This article from Factcheck.org might explain why Twitter and Facebook are so reluctant to carry commentary about Giulani's "amazing" email discovery. (Once bitten twice shy).

It appears that the FBI are now investigating whether the discovery is another attempt by Russia to interfere with a US election for the purpose of promoting its preferred candidate.

I'm not familiar with Factcheck.Org and it always pays to be wary of US media organisations who can be extremely biased. The same organisation also calls out Kamala Harris for a misleading comment, but on a fairly innocuous subject.

You can't support the suppression of a story for being potentially baseless, while at the same time spouting baseless Russia stories. If you have any evidence at all that this Biden story is Russian meddling, please provide it.

Ratcliffe is a Republican politician, appointed to this position by Trump, who is a convicted Rapist and Felon, after two attempts. On the first attempt his appointment was rejected by Republican senators who feared that he might politicize the position. (This commentary was taken from Wikipedia so it needs to be considered with all the due care that should be given to an open source platform).

The Fox news article is craftily written. It is absolutely correct to say that the intelligence community has not claimed that the "Giuliani discovery" is Russian disinformation. The intelligence community hasn't given an opinion either way.

The article then goes on to quote Ratcliffe, “Don’t drag the intelligence community into this,” Ratcliffe continued. “Hunter Biden’s laptop is not part of some Russian disinformation campaign and I think it’s clear the American people know that.”

So Ratcliffe (and Fox) move deftly from a position where the intelligence committee doesn't know whether this is Russian disinformation to a position where he says that it isn't part of a Russian disinformation program. He also cleverly refers to it as Hunter Biden's laptop. Well, it may well be, but that certainly hasn't been proven either at this stage.

These guys are playing games. Don't believe evrything you read.

I agree with pretty much all of this, however Id add that pretty much every US media outlet (except Fox) has immediately run stories suggesting that the Laptop & Guiliani info are Russian disinformation without any reason or evidence. I think its helpful for the DNI to state that (at this stage) it isnt.

Russia released information about Clinton. The information was checked by US intelligence and the Senate intelligence committee rejected the substance of the information. (i.e Clinton didn't do what the info claimed she did). The disinformation was however confirmed as being sourced from Russia

Despite there being nothing of substance in the Russian info, Ratcliffe has decided to release it 14 days ahead of the election.

It's called muddying the waters. Ratcliffe appears to be "working for the man" (apologies to Roy Orbison).

The part that is going to cause trouble is that there was a point where the FBI worked out that it was rubbish and Jim Comey (I think) and others ordered them to push on and keep digging.

IMO its pretty disgraceful but I hope it is clarified one way or another when the report comes out. For mine this is the most concerning part of what is happening in the US is the distrust in the usual truthfinding mechanisms. The media are already gone, if the FBI cant be trusted, its a short step to a failed corrupt state.

Intentionally IMO. Its also pretty irrelevant. Its all just a prelude to the Durham Investigation which has already prosecuted an FBI attorney.

The bloke gave it to the FBI a year ago. He went public because they sat on it and never contacted him again. If the FBI had acted on it, this could easily have been dealt with way before the election. Joe Biden wasn't even the Democrat nominee when the bloke first went to the FBI.
