POLL: Should the club fold and handover/sell the licence?

Where is the fun in that if you are Wests Tigers board member ? Only so many times you can go to the Chinese at the club…

Being connected to the Wests Tigers allows them to hobnob with NRL elite and go and get wined and dined at Origin, Grand final and in Lee‘s private box every home game

Good point. I didn’t factor in selfish leeches.

That’s disheartening.

I thought they voted the board to minimise the MSG at the Chinese restaurant at Ash

I think the club folding is inevitable. It’s what the NRL wants (less Sydney teams) and they’ve been using the media to jump on every little thing to hound us into submission for years. Can’t see us ever recovering from this mentally, the negative press is constantly creating more negativity surrounding the club and it’s not gonna stop.

The players, coaches and staff just cannot seem to lift themselves out of it. It affects everyone who has come onboard in recent years, even if they were previously successful at other clubs. It will get to the point where no good player will want to come here, if it hasn’t already, and we cannot possibly go on like this for much longer. This prolonged situation is not good for anyone’s mental health - players, staff and fans alike.

Club's licenses are renewed every year. The NRL could well put them on notice.

Perhaps ONLY "mediocre fans" want to fold the club just because they are bored and have femto second attention span?🤔
I don't want the club to fold quite the contrary actually but if the club continues down the same path and remains the basket case at the bottom then it won't matter about finances and who owns what % .
Two things I think are facts
1. The NRL wants an 18 team comp and soon as the byes and draw are difficult to manage and the ladder is confusing
2.The NRL think there is one too many teams in Sydney 9 is a lot .
I'm sure there must be some sort of performance clauses attached to the licence
They are weighing up a new licence or two for possible new entrants
Central Coast ,Perth , PNG . Pacifica ,2nd Melb team
The PNG team would be based maybe out of Cairns and play a few games in Port Moresby
Pacifica would mix Samoan and Tongan players and play just a few games OS
The others are self explanatory
I'm certain the NRL want to grow the game
I don't like this thing about the club being owned by another club and that club is run by a handful of bird men in Ashfield

Seriously, what are YOU doing on THIS forum? Thanks for YOUR contributions, but YOU are free to leave and support another club!
I do not get how can one think that if it/she/he cannot follow the club, NO ONE should!
And demand that the club must fold? 🤔
How selfish and mediocre is that? 🤔
Yeh c'mon @gallagher you can do better than that.
WT ain't goin nowhere but UP.....................soon 🙂.

I think so too and I feel most in the organisation can see the writing on the wall. Wests Tigers I feel are on the verge of ceasing to exist. People are just using it to bolster their specific interests. Wests Ashfield is getting NRL funding, Lee is getting Brydens publicity, Pascoe is probably trying to make his CV look better financially so he could get a job as a CFO or something for another code or team.

Robbie has probably mentally checked out to look after his businesses. Sheens fulfilled his wishes of coaching for the final time in the NRL.

I actually feel for Benji because I think he is taking it seriously but is way too naive to understand that he's in way over his head.

Bar some miracle, some very shrewd recruiting or possibly let's say even a very unlikely scenario of Bula and Api playing some killer footy together - I can't see this JV surviving.

I can't see us winning more than 5 or 6 games a year for another 5 years.

At the end though, no matter how big of a loser this team is, we will keep going to games, keep tuning in, keep clicking on Fox/Nine/SMH/DT articles. They'll keep making money, club will keep selling scarves.

Winning will never really be a priority.

Can't disagree at all. Definitely feels inevitable.

I dunno about going to games. We used to average 18k but now sub 10k crowds are regular. Going back to the 2 small suburban grounds next year, our average will be around the 10k mark.
Bells should be going off. We've all seen clubs die before, this is how it starts.

Will never death ride the club on the back of individuals who cant perform their roles to a standard that others can and yet get paid the privilege for doing so. Self interest should never be the catalyst for failure the club and while ever it exists attacking the people who are failing is where anger/ action should be directed at rather than at the club itself.

I think we are way past the 'starting stage'.

Membership numbers are higher than ever before and I think we have 6th highest member numbers of all NRL clubs. We are generating enough revenue to not dissolve I guess but I think there will be a steep fall soon.

The agenda they've pushed is 'despite losing, we are generating a lot of income'.. these clowns think that they're generating income because of how good they are, not the fact that we have a very marketable 'Tigers' brand and have a massive supporter base starting way before they ever moved into the joint.

I just can't see us surviving. They'll probably fire Pascoe end of this year or move him into a finance role, but the damage and the rot is too far IMO.

My contribution to this team will probably be limited to this forum and watch the odd game that we win on Kayo until they actually start winning.
