Attacking players shall not advance in front of the ball before it is kicked. Any deliberate offence by either team shall incur a penalty to be awarded at the centre of the 20m line. The initial tackle affected on the team taking the 20 metre optional kick re-start shall be a zero tackle.

So again you could run to the 20min line and kick down field to a knowing fast winger.

Very really at 20min restart do teams have a fullback in position or there edges sorted as they usually expect a winger to just tap and run at the middle.

Yes you could, but it is a risk when you already have a 7 tackle set.

Yes you could, but it is a risk when you already have a 7 tackle set.

You don't need 7 tackles, when you run 80m to score on zero tackle ??
Just need some speed on the wing

Yeah they are all a free kick, just no rule on how far you have to kick. Basically you can tap it with your foot and regain possession.

You can the scrum feed as long as its not on the full.

With the seven tackle sets for a 20m restart these days the risk and reward isn’t really worth it for the kick for touch.

Would be a great play with everyone rushing back.

I cant quote chapter and verse but its actually against the rules to intentionally miss the kick to go for the try. I cant rememeber the details but you cant for example just kick to the corner for the winger to catch it.

Pretending to Kick at Goal.

It shall be misconduct for a player to pretend to kick at goal from a penalty kick and then deliberately kick it elsewhere. Such misconduct shall incur a penalty. Having informed the Referee of his intention to kick at goal from an awarded penalty kick the kicker shall not do otherwise

I can't exactly remember the game or who Wally Lewis was playing for at the time , but I can distinctly remember Wally pointing at the posts and when the opposition relaxed ...he tapped the ball and scored ...the furious opposition went off at the ref .....the ref simple turned around and said their was nothing he could ...Lewis had pointed at the posts and said to him "that is where I'm going to score " ...now that is footy brains

If Moses was awake to the situation, he couldn't of grubbers his kick for goal. Which would of been a missed goal and ref would of called 'play on'. All he needed to do his pick up the ball after his 'missed kick for goal' and stroll over the tryline to score a try.

Lucky he didn't but if he did it would of been the.most embarrassing try of all time.

Team needs to be more aware and awake of the situation. Play for 80mins.

Actually you can’t do that. You have to have a genuine shot at goal otherwise it is called back.

Ricky Stuart admitted to telling a goal kicker to miss a kick to run the clock down ...who was that for ....Sharks maybe

Steve Mortimer did the same thing. Pointed at the posts and says "we're taking the tap". Gamesmanship.

But if it hit the cross bar it would be play on and the team wouldn't of been ready.

What about kick for touch?
Can you deliberating kick it down field on the other side of the ground for a running winger?

Once again mate,if the decision is made to kick for the sideline it has to be taken as such ...its to make up ground to benefit the team getting the penalty...
Thats why if you kick for touch and fail,its frowned upon because you lose the advantage given by the penalty...

That part isn't correct
Section 13 Law 2

A player may take a penalty kick by punting, drop kicking, or
place kicking the ball from any point on or behind the mark
and equidistant from the touch line. Other than when kicking
for goal (see notes to Section 6, Law 11 - “Pretending to kick at
goal”) the ball may be kicked in any direction, after which it is
in play

You can kick in any direction and don't have to kick for touch.

I still wonder to this day if some teams wouldn't be benefited by trying to place-kick for touch? I know it's more time consuming, and potentially sides think they get more roll-on if they kick quickly and jog downfield.

But some guys can regularly kickoff 50+m on the fly, which they potentially could not replicate with a punt? And recently a fair number of punts not finding touch, I think players have become a little out of practice since the 6-agains.
