Potter can't coach

Taylor has had it easy.

He hasn't even been able to go into the market thanks to so many backloaded contracts, not to mention the same poor facilities Potter had. I won't argue he's had it easier than Potter, but to say he's had it easy is a fallacy.

Okay - he has had it a lot easier than Potter did.

Potter has to go, he can't coach!!
R u guys serious, this guy is pathetic!
Getting rid of koro, playing lulia, bringing gavet on after 60minutes. All reasons why he can't coach not considering injuries!!
Please if he was sacked we would be going much better!
Get ready for the slaughters to come, u asked for it..
If Robbie said or he didn't, I will potter can't coach..
All the injuries we have had this year and he lets our best two reserve wingers go!! Great move potter!!

History repeating. I guess for a few people in this thread the message is pretty clear. Be careful what you wish for.

Potter still can't coach, I stand by that regardless of injuries, choice of staff, the moons position!!!
He's a moron, no brain! Great player but dumb as dog stuff!
Taylor is a lot smarter than potter, and generally a better coach. But as tiger torch pointed out he's a better assistant than head coach. The scarecrow just is a miserable guy and he wants to point the stick at farah??
Some of his decisions have been shocking eg; Malone, Malone and then there was Malone….
And resting farah against the rorters! Dumb
Also his whole management on farah has brought the club into the media for all the wrong reasons!

Is lathami really stevetiger…they both have identical opinions on JT,but I don't see their coaching qualifications...

No. Are you really JT. There is a lot of spin coming from both of you.

Okay - he has had it a lot easier than Potter did.

Why? A poorer squad and less cap space. The only thing he has is some say in back office staff but even thats not completely true. Potter also didnt have the constant destabilisation of CEO and Chief of Football Operations that Tayor has suffered through.

Potter faced a difficult Farah, which Taylor has faced as well. So they are even there.

What else? Whiteanting from assistant coaches? That happens in all poor performing squads to a degree and I have no doubt that it was well overstated at the time.

What else?

^^^
Taylor has had massive support from the board. I think Potter never really had that. Taylor has also been lucky with injuries.

Potters team were ravaged by injuries.

I dont think you can underplay the white anting from assistants and lack of support at Board level.

He was really hung out to dry with next to no one in his corner.

Taylor got to choose his own people with full support from the board.

Im not saying things have been easy for Taylor. He has not been able to sign many players and has had to contend with some drams.

But for you to suggest Taylor and Potter were operating with the same level of support is laughable.

The reason why Taylor isn't ravaged with injuries is cos he gave the S/C a complete overhaul. Something he's rarely given credit for.

Thanks for completely making my point GNR

Key words "he gave it a complete overhaul" (and to his credit did it very well - i have given him credit for this on numerous occasions?

Potter never had a chance to do that

Injuries? I suspect a lot of that had to do with coaching techniques. A lot of it was soft tissue injuries which are generally attributable to overtraining and old style training (road runs etc), which Potter was heavily criticised for by players.

Disagree on the whiteanting. It was vastly overstated. I can say that quite confidently.

Potter didn't show any interest in that side of the game mate.

"i suspect" says it all.

Meaning this is my best guess…

Im just talking in simple terms. I know just from even coaching a U 21s cricket team for 4-5 years. When you have the power to control your program and your own staff things are much easier. When they say here you go here are your 2 assistants, here is your manager and these are your players then its never as smooth.

Just have to agree to disagree on this.

More an educated guess. Given the relative lack of injuries since Potter left, not a bad one too.

My educated guess is the board decided (on the advice of Taylor) to spend a much more money in this department. In 2014 we were 8 wins and 6 losses and beating teams in the Top 4 before we got decimated by injuries and our year fell apart. At full strength i think we would have made the Top 8.

Didnt we have Skando doing the gig in 2014 who wasnt even properly qualified over level 1???

Thats not ideal for a coach when he wants to put his best team on the paddock. Now you could be right Potter might have been an old school coach, with old school methods. However i have not seen the quotes regarding his training methods from players that you are talking about?

I'm not sure about that but lathami was certainly on a rave - reminded of me of Breaking Bad - how I miss that show.
