Potter not able to identify problems with the side?

To be fair though, Penrith were replacing talented players such as Lewis and Gordon, Wade Graham the year before and have mainly bought rejects from other clubs. For Potter, he came in in December if I remember correctly so basically he had to use the squad at his disposal. As for letting players go from this season, i'd say the guys coming off contract, it's possible none of them will be re-signed as the club focuses on retaining youth. I believe the first thing the club needs to do is get it's own house in order. There's a lot of talent coming through so i'm not concerned about lack of new signings. You'd expect there to be few.

I'd give Mick a bit more time to see if he is the right man for the job. What a time to come in ! Everything that could go wrong has gone wrong. We've never seen it worse !

Anyway the old saying is Cometh the hour Cometh the man …. so if he can make a go of this, with the hand of cards he's been dealt, then he will really earn his stripes.

Personality is a big issue. Potter is not a people person he is not engaging and forthcoming.
I don't think he has a connection with the players. We are last..we have never been last before.

Potter is like a student teacher who asks the students for approval. The senior players look to have it all over Potter. The team just looks lost in attack the players are not buying into his way.

Sheens is still getting paid to coach the team he should be asked to come back and do that.

He is the wrong man at the wrong time.

I think the op was right but so was Potter. All you have to do is put in a decent kick to our wingers and you have a pretty high chance they will drop the ball or if they catch it throw it away.

In saying that I agree with the OP that mistakes with the ball are also killing us.

I think everyone should be able to see multiple problems with the side but I wonder what you can really do to fix it. I think coaches are a little overrated. if you have great players you will more games than you lose. We have some good players but we have a lot of mistakes in us which means that we have to be a lot better than the whoever we play against.

I think we can turn it around but I think Potter has a tough ask.

Connection with the players? Not a people person?

How about they just do their jobs? Are they really that utterly pathetic that if the coach isn't a people person they can't do what they are paid to do?

Where is that world where people do their job because they get paid

What can you do ?

You could practice catching bombs and I know its a big ask but offer protection for the catches.
You could practice kicking the ball out from a penalty.
You could practice a variety of moves when we are close to their line…..I don't think the Farah pass to Fulton or Farah kick to no one is working.

Hows that ?

Potter has not got the players he wants. I'm not a Sheens basher but this is the side the former coach built. I'm sure that if Potter had the opportunity to gather a squad to suit his coaching style and gameplan, many of the current crop wouldn't be there. If you are complaining about the players in the squad, then logically it's all Sheens.

The side looks confused, stuck between the way, way out crazy style of Sheens and the more structured Potter. It's no wonder they look so out of sorts. Hopefully time will see some improvement.

i agree potter walked into a side already in place but as some of you guys have said there has been no recruitment. sure we have a great bunch of superstar newbies but we also need some quality established players. when was the last time we bought a current origin player. potter needs to take a stand and state jobs are on the line. terminate contracts if needs be at season's end, drop players to nsw cup despite their place in the team… something. its a results business and sheens is so far having the last laugh.

He is the wrong man at the wrong time.

Is there a right man for the wrong time ?
Or is our team just "uncoachable" ?

Potter not a people person??? 8 top line players out injured and their back up has an average age of just 22 and next to NO first grade experience. Call it what you like but it's like the perfect storm. Several factors have combined to place us in a real vulnerable position. It has nothing to do with Potter or the senior players owning the joint. It is simply bad timing and horrid luck with injury.

Yeah That's right his not a people person and people don't warm to him….what has that got to do with injured players.

Potter is rated just as skilful a coach as Anderson by many of his peers to whom I have spoken. Indeed, Saints are looking very handy on both fronts this year. But you just feel the relationship between Potter and St Helens has never really worked. Why? Perhaps personality is an issue.

Anderson was engaging and forthcoming to fans and media during his time at Knowsley Road. I have found Potter anything but personable, a view also held by Scully.

The "eyeless pinhead" (as someone refferred to him on this forum) Royce Simmons was really personable as their next coach and they got utterly trounced the next few seasons.

But he had a column in the paper so that was all good

Interesting Irvine, so do you reckon he's personable to players just not the public or not personable to both?

people need to learn that there is going to be criticism of tedesco.

we cannot catch bombs. it doesnt matter who is there, we seem to struggle.

the scariest part about the game vs sharks was they weren't even targeting our worst kick catcher (utai) and we still dropped what seemed like a thousand kicks.

When Potter took the job on most of you must have known it wasn't going to end up nice. I both admire and pity Mick. He has to re-design a Teflon Tim side as well as the ego of Marshall. I'd give him until 2015 to see any improvement.
