Potter safe as houses

Seems like Potter knows his way around coaching forwards. Could just be players putting in for a change, but we've seen the Sheens effect on players like BMM and Blair, and I shudder at the thought of him having control over Ava, Buchanan, Sironen and Sue. Again, not saying he's a miracle worker, but he's getting performances out of our players - which is a coaches job - bar a few that wont be around and could hardly give two shits (though I'll admit, Benji put in this week). There's probably a reason he won Coach of the Year twice over in England too. Compared to the money Canberra is throwing at Stuart (who surely has to be one of the most over-rated, overpaid sook of a coach), I'd take Potter over almost any other coach in the comp at the moment.

he's good no doubt, but there are some bloody good coaches in the nrl…. I dunn about taking him, reasonably unproven in results, over coaches like des.

Yea that's why I went with almost any other. There's still a few, namely Bellamy, Bennett and Hasler at a stretch, though I admit based on what the Roosters have been saying I'd take Robinson over Des. Potter just seems to have a reasonably good handle on the young blokes, has done well in my eyes considering the injury toll, second tier salary cap and the most disinterested halves pairing in the comp. When he has the squad he wants with the people that he wants around him, I think we'll start to see some really strong results.

I don't believe Potter is safe as houses …. The first 8 or 9 rounds of 2014 will more than likely determine his fate.

And he should keep his job if we win 4 or 5 of our first 8 or 9 next year. If we are 2-7 or 1-8 then that's a different story

We haven't even seen the 2014 draw yet

What if we get Melbourne away Rd 1 Manly Rd 2,Cowboys away, Rd 3,Souths Rd 4 ,Roosters Rd 5, Newcastle Rd 6,Warriors away Rd 7 ,

We could be 0-7

Lets wait until we see the draw before we stick Potter on a pedestal for 2014 or hang him high for 2014

Just give the bloke his second year to finish what he started. If we see marked improvement in the squad and that reflects on the scoreboard he should get to kick on. It will take him to undo the "Sheens culture."

If not, then we can cut him loose without any financial issues. After keeping Sheens on for 10 years to fix the mess he created, I don't see the harm in letting Potter see his second year out.

Defense coach and strength/conditioning and medical staff

Maybe one day we can do something about the facilities..or lack of

Unfortunately who we play will be irrelevant. If we are 0-7 after 7 rounds, having played the 7 top ranked teams from this year, the knives will still be out.

End of the day it would show us at the bottom of the ladder and that's enough for the media to start making up stories.

To stay alive, surely his number 1 priority is a competent defensive coach and halves mentor.

And thats what his doing now we just need to see who we sign. Btw our coach was speaking yesterday on sky sports he said were going to be using alot of short passing thru the fowards next year.

I was responding to the above comments AHX

My point is lets wait until at least half the season before we start making calls either way

Anything could happen between now and the start of the season

AHX your cranky pants need changing

I think Potter will end up being another Bellyache.Hard but fair and I think he will have a long career. In one way he has been blessed to have so many good kids coming through at the same time. I just hope some hard calls are made in relation to Anasta Moltzen and maybe Blair but I get the feeling Potter wants them for their experience in 2014

sorry Happy for being a cranky pants. But who is out there? Ricky Stuart?

Mate I've backed Potter through all this crap over the last month and was probably one of the first to call BS when this first hit the press

That why I said what I said

But we can't judge Potter on next year until NEXT year folks ,so many different things play into this The draw was one example

since he first got here, in my view potter has made all the right moves. i think he is excellent, and was sad to see there was heat on him.

im very optimistic with what lies ahead for potter and the tiges.
