Potter safe for this year!

Following intense speculation regarding the future of Mick Potter as Head Coach of Wests Tigers, the Club's Board has met tonight and decided that contract negotiations will be put on hold until the side' 2014 campaign comes to an end.

The meeting was originally convened on the basis that Mick Potter requested direction on his future.

The Board and Management fully support the coaching staff and players and want to give them every chance to push towards a top eight finish this season.

Wests Tigers Chairman Mike Bailey said that the focus for the Club needs to be on the field.

"The team has fought hard to put us in a position to compete for a top eight finish in 2014," said Bailey. "Ongoing speculation about the Club's three coaches is unhelpful and destabilising at a time where we need unity. Members and sponsors have voiced their disappointment at how this has been played out in the open forum. This stops now."

Bailey went on to say that this decision was the best to allow Wests Tigers players to continue to focus on football.

"At no stage have the players approached the Board on matters relating to the coaching staff."

Head Coach Mick Potter confirmed that he shares the Board's sentiment.

"Ideally I would have like to have had this sorted months ago but am happy to put this to one side until our team's future is known."

The Club will make no further comment on this issue.

right, well at least that's something

it doesn't appear there was any player revolt and the only thing upsetting any of the playing group was this being dragged out for as long as it was.

My apologies guys, I added an attachment with the statement but it seems like it didn't post. Cheers Mac.

What a ridiculous time to have such a meeting.
On the day of our most crucial game.

There is a definite line in the sand now though. The word is that it's make the finals and you get an extension, miss it and you're gone. I really hope that the players do want to play for him like Farah said and we get to the finals. It'd be a beautiful ending to a sad saga.

Well …that's sorta anti-climatic but wait...

The Board and Management fully support the coaching staff

Bye Mick

Now we can (hopefully)concentrate on football instead of gossip, innuendos, and jounalistic mongering. I wonder whether the Sunday Telegraph have sold al copies of their paper today? Next week give another team chance at slander.

Reading that, i'd say he's as good as gone next yr sadly. Which wouldn't be as big of an injustice had they sacked hm tonight, but it would still be an idiotic move. As Gus said late in the game today, the expectations some of these clubs put on coaches is ridiculous. What will another coach that isn't named Bellamy, Hasler or Bennett get out of these players with all the injuries and Origin availabilities that Potter can't?

All those of you who were heading to Concord should head to Dean Richie's house and burn it the hell down.

Maybe they should head to your place to cheer you up after your efforts this evening you probably are severely depressed and in a state of confusion

Bit late now after virtually purposely destroying any chance we had of a victory today

Hope the stupid old FW's on the board are happy now

The NRL should investigate this and put the entire board on LWOP until they get answers

Put Willow ,Geo ,CB, Milky and Irvine on the board for the time being

About time something came out of Bailys mouth. Who would want to sponsor a club like this atm, maybe Harry had a word in his ear.

Where has Mayer been in all this rabble ?
