Potter v Walters Right call ??

I remember people saying when Bennett went to saints, if he wants a real challenge why doesnt he go to Souths (souths had made one finals in over 20 years) or cronulla?

Fact is good coaches are good coaches because they aint stupid and can select where it is they think theyre likely to have success…...I doubt Ballamy Des or bennett would do much different here to potsy in the same amount of time

Beggars cant be choosers, potters a beggar at NRL coaching level
Bennett bellamy Hasler are tycoons in comparison

He is in contact with his Bulldog buddies still, and maybe he still has a few contacts out in Dragon land?

#1 Priority for Mick is to get Steve Folkes back as our defensive coach, and #2 is to get Brett Kimmorley/Mick Hagan as our attacking coach.

From there, we need an improvement in the Medical Team… New Science or Technics etc to get players back on the paddock quicker. We are the slowest by a country mile getting players back!

Its off the field we need a bigger budget!

Potter would get less money than his assistant coaches if we wanted to sign Hagan and Folkes

Probably other good thing with these two is they would be putting pressure on Potter to perform as well

It is like taking over a bad restaurant changing the head chef but keeping the rest of the incompetent kitchen hands and wait staff. The new head chef should now start interviewing his choice of staff. Nothing will change if he dosent assert his authority. First to go Roycey boy

Geez, no disrespect to Kevvie Walters but it's probably a good thing he missed the job. Imagine a rookie coach in this conundrum. Potter at least has plenty of coaching experience in the ESL, some of which was under real duress. In that sense, he's well equipped for the job. Ideal really.

If Kevvie was bringing Peter Ryan with him as defensive coach, then he would have been a good choice.

Anyone except Royce.

The problem Potter has is he looks desperate…he basiclly took the job for less than half the salary a NRL coa h normally takes AND he accepted another coach's support staff.

Most coaches would not have accepted the job in that situation. No way in hell Haselr, Bennet, McGuire etc accept NOT being able to choose their own support staff.

Potter looks like the K Mart option at the moment. Cheap and desperate. Unfortuately, he looks like a man with no authority.......and the players pick up on that very quickly.

He has tried to asssert himself...taking Robbie off v Manly (massive mistake) and dropping Benji ( good move...but he basically said it will never happen again in the press conference last night, so he has lost any authority he tried to get there)

He just doesn't command any respect unfortunately. You can see it in the players lack of effort and absolutely zero intensity or aggression.

The problem is that he doesn't have options, He went out on a limb and benched Benji and it has appeared to have an impact, Benji was better. Regardless of what Benji's form is the team did lack direction without him, we can't expect Farah to take it all on and our attacking (leadership) options are limited.

Potter can't assert his authority by dropping players, I'm sure he is concerned that some of our juniors are being thrown into the deep end and may end up scared for life, or for a while at least

It is asking too much of Potter to produce a competitive side, No other coach could walk into this and come out with the team performing. Potter is tough, he just needs time.

The loss to South's may work in our favour with the Cowboys and Penrith coming up, I think this week was rock bottom and we can only go up from here.

This side has never been good at following Game Plans, in Sheens time or now under Potter. Potter's most usual comment after a game is that they are not playing to the structure ! This team quickly falls away whatever defensive structure they have thats for sure. Having said this I still think this team is mostly playing with MORE energy and spirit than the last couple of years except for some back rowers and I attribute this to Potter.Heighno and Ellis did double the work of Blair etc
Its obvious the players are not fully playing to Potters instructions and I think dropping Marshall was a warning to all and I think the selections this week in the forwards will tell a lot ,
