Potter's future

@851,before you go off half cocked and punt Potter,Cleary has some depth… We haven't ....Cleary has Gould cleaning up the culture in the club..we have a dysfunctional board that creates havoc and Potter doesn't get the accolades he deserves because of the continuing backstabbing...Cleary wouldn't last at the Wests Tigers the way they are at the moment. :wtf

There's a lot of talk about Potters team selection the last few weeks with forwards playing in the backs and it got me thinking if maybe there was other forces at play.

Considering we are no chance of making the finals does anyone think it's a possibility with both the NSW Cup team and the NYC team both entrenched in the 8 that a decision was made not to derail their season by poaching their players.

I know the ultimate goal for the club is success in the NRL team but maybe for players development etc it is better keeping the young guys and fringe first graders in a winning environment.

Does anyone know how many games a player can play NRL before they are prevented from going back down a grade?

:sign:

I am not going off half cocked champ,Potter showed his hand early, picking Galloway,Anasta,Lulia,Lawrence,Sironen and others every week .
This was before the injuries rolled in,all of these players needed to be dropped, none were, only Lulia who lasted way longer than he should have,he had the chance to make a stand,he didn't,that for me is enough to send him packing.
If he made this call early we wouldn't have players not putting in now,you reap what you sow..

Seems like a nice bloke but can't coach and can't lead. Sorry, see you later.

If Farah's attitude does not improve, he can go as well. I know that we cannot afford to sack him, however, a term in reserve grade might teach him some humility.

We need someone strong like a Brian Smith. He could not do any worse than what we have at the moment.

Is it a foregone conclusion that the replacement will be either Kidwell or Payten? I'm hoping not tbh.

We need a coach who is a strong leader and knows at least how to coach a first grade side. As for Farah he should lighten up a little instead of looking like he is carrying a chip on his shoulder.

Well said Cq and TrueTiger - nice to read a bit of sense on this thread.
You can only work with what you have - the rest is pie in the sky.

Like Griffin with 54% - pretty easy with half the Queensland team in your side. The last two years at the Tigers he would have been closer to 20%. Who is he going to attract - Bennett's cast offs that is about all.
Potter has signed only Patterson, Lulia, Taupau, Richards, Gavet, Lodge and Halatau to my knowledge for a small amount of money - HE DID NOT HAVE ANY MORE MONEY!!!! - two thirds of those have delivered and the other third were only for a little experience as replacements.
Who was he going to buy Inglis, Burgess, etc. on hire purchase.

You work with what you have - Potter has done this and has achieved brilliantly. It is a shame that the off field staff have not done there job as well.

Wake up people it has nothing to do with no one wanting to come here - there is no money for Marquee players or coaches. We do not need rookie coaches or sacked has beens - the one viable alternative - Anthony Griffin would not be as good as Potter in IMO with our roster. Guess what? that leaves us with a coach that has given The Tigers his all - one Michael Potter Esquire.

The one thing that Griffin could bring is Paul White , the Broncos CEO

He is very highly rated and could do wonders at the Tigers

I'd say it is…who else could we afford?

A lot of the 2011 grand final winners are pushing there way into first grade. There lays the argument to push for Payton too. Rather payton than kidwell I think…

That chip Robbie is carrying is his beloved Tigers. He's doing it tough at the moment because his beloved club is in a crisis. He's hurting. Thats exactly how i would expect our captain to feel. He, like the rest of us don't have much to smile about at the moment.

Well let's hope there is a solution soon otherwise he and the rest of us won't have much to smile about, footballwise, for quite a while.

You were a champion player Mick and I feel that the amateurish Wests Tigers have crucified you to skim over their own deficiency in all areas of running a successful NRL team both in the management and player ranks. Shame on you Wests Tigers. You have done no wrong pal….**what a mob of ratbags we have here in our management, supporter and player ranks** alike.

I agree, would be very ironic if Mick Potter was moved on, and he became a very successful coach at another club.

How is he going to be a successful coach ?
Potter has been an absolute disaster 15th last year and 13th this year.

No wonder you didnt get anywhere on the field irvine.

You have a defeatist negative attitude that spells nothing but failure

Said it a million times, we have to get head office in shape and our playing roster sorted before any coach will make a difference.

Okay the coach may be able to fast track making the necessary retrenchments and recruitment's but we are going nowhere till the people who pull the strings have the same goals

This is the most sensible comment I have read on the Wests Tigers crisis. No-one outside the day-to-day running of the Club could really understand what the problem areas are. No changes should be made until the new board is appointed and the situation examined and THEY determine the needs of the set-up. That is the job of the Board and the reason you have one!

When you select forwards from 1 to 5 ,after releasing 3 wingers mid season that tells me you don't have a clue .every team can find a fast kid and slot them onto the wing and get some success . When you look at our last 5 purchases who is potter kidding .fringe first graders and has beens are all we seem to attract.who knows maybe a 54 % winning coach might go ok if griffin wants the job ?who would he attract ?

So let me get this right - if you had a squad of 20 or so players to choose from and there were only 3 fit outside backs you would send the team out missing 2 players?

Does anyone on here truly believe that Potter wants to play forwards on the wing????

Please cq, will you stop being sensible and understanding of the restrictions that are forced on Mick Potter by the financial problems of the Club and the injuries of the players. I get sick and tired of reading some of the uneducated bleatings of some posters.

I would prefer to see Potter stay. But after watching the on-field attitude of most of the players last Saturday night, that may not work either.

From the moment the players came out for the warm-up they looked dis-interested and the coaches also looked like they were simply going through the motions.

If coaching is getting the blame I'd prefer that all three coaches get moved on, not just Potter. But from the start of Potter's appointment half the board has wanted Payten…

If it comes down to a choice between Potter, Kidwell and Payten…Potter has to be Coach with the other 2 punted...Personally I think all 3 should go and we bring in someone else like Griffin or Brown

Agree 100% mate

@TigerWoods, I reckon Potter should stay the other two are only good for whiteanting and backstabbing their boss….

something has to give.

The performance of the team presently is diabolical.

Unfortunately potter will be a scapegoat.
