Pressure Mounts on Marshall to make his call

Didn't he have all the time he needed to make a decision last week?

Either way, good result. Benji has done everything in the game over long periods. Time to hang them up, take Braith's spot on the TV and have an ambassador role for the club.

Hope he retires or goes to the super league. Wouldn't like to see him finishing up a back up player for another NRL club. That said though, it's his career and it's his decision.

Benji may be done but Reynolds is like a ball and chain - end of contract can't come quick enough.

I'm probably dreaming but I continue to hope there is a chance of a super league team picking reynolds up.

I would really like to see what Madden has to offer the next 4 weeks with Brooks.. Madden at 7 and Brooks at 6...Madden also kicks goals!

There is no way the maths in that articles is correct- we cant have 10 players potentially leaving along with the $360k penalty no longer applied and only have $1m.

Maybe give him a shot v the Beagles and the Myxos and see how he;s going. If OK play him v the Melbourne Sewer and Slime. If not, rest him so he doesn't get psychologically stuffed up. Best to give him a taste and assess.

That figure was from Pascoe last week so it's spot on.I'm amazed Benji doesn't see it's time to go.

Got it too good here.

My guess is some of our players' contract extensions kick in next year. Those guys would have salary increases. If we can get one of the bludgers off our books, we are looking good.

It's a sad day for WTs. I hope the Club has spoken to him prior to this article being published.

I'd like to wish Benji and his family every success for the future. Benji and Robbie are two WTs' greats. This is the end of an era. Thank you for your loyalty to WTs.

I won't believe this or get excited until it is announced..

We are paying more for Doueihi and Joey plus some other guys would’ve been upgraded too. Some of the guys who are off contract wouldn’t be on much either.

Looks like Chammas gave Reynolds and Brooks a payrise...Reynolds 800K Brooks 800K = 1.6M dollars..

Oh... What are they really on?

Dunno but it's increasing by the article..

If Chammas is saying it, I'd gather there's a fair element of truth to it (Benji's future, not the salaries of players.)

Yeah i tend to agree overinflated the figures Reynolds is on $750k and Brooks was on $550k before a new deal was reached so i can assume that he is on $750k as well.
Benji $300k can't say we having been playing him overs like a few other players on the books.
Shame we can't off load a few like Reynolds, Mybe $950k and Packer $700k that's our issue.

Well it states the salary cap increases next year.
Tend to agree figures seem inaccurate when we can also off load a few players like McQueen, Taylor, Jennings, Lawrence to name a few and now Marshall, plus the $320k Salary cap penalty. I would also rather keep the cap $ until the right player comes along rather than sign another dud to a long term deal.
Salary cap by season

Season Salary cap Minimum wage Club grant
2022 $10M $120,000 $13M
2021 $9.9M $115,000 $13M
2020 $9.8M $110,000 $13M
2019 $9.6M $105,000 $13M
2018 $9.4M $100,000 $13M

Hence why not overly excited about moving on Benji - he is a minor issue to the big problem all of whom will be here again next year. Probably the only one too who seems to give a rat's about the club. Move a couple of the others on and then we are making some progress.

Nice to hear the heat regards playing on, hope benji can see it's in the interest for WT and doesnt get filthy.
Hope he retires so WT can send him off nicely.
If he really wants another year sure plenty of clubs will pick him up as depth for another year

People tend to selectively forget the following:
- Souths are chipping in heavily for AD, chipping in a lot less next year
- Canberra are paying for some of BJ this year, it's all us next year
- Given LL was released, it's possible Dragons are paying some of him this year
- We signed Stefano on big dollars
- We also signed AJ and Blore, this year they are heavily covered financially by their former clubs
- We upgraded Talau and I think Twal as well

There is possibly more that I've missed.
