Primus

While watching the eels gold coast game (go titans) I googled a few old bands that I liked to see what they are doing these days, and to my delight Primus are coming to Australia on tour next year!
Just me getting my excitement happening!

I dunno, Iron Maiden, Pennywise, Rob Zombie, Less Than Jake and Sum 41 are pretty sweet!
Bring on the sideshows!

Maybe cause last year was ridiculously amazing this fails in comparison. And I went to Warped Tour in America this year. Best festival EVER. Might give SW a miss next year. Not worth the 150 bucks

yahuh - depending on how many bands you wanna see, wait til they announce the sideshows.

sideshows usually go for $40-60 a pop and you get to see 4-5 bands

last year they screwed up the sideshows so bad though. put random combinations together.

have you been to a SW before?

I've been to big day out, livid and homebake but not sw. I've seen Iron Maiden, sum 41 and less than jake before but keen for primus

As good as the lineups usually are at Soundwave, the organisation is amateurish. Eastern Creek is a horrible venue. The transport in 2009 was a mess, slightly improved in 2010.

Ahhh Livid … that was actually a decent festival. RIP

i hate how soundwave has changed from being less known bands that still have a big following to massive bands. it means 40+ year old metal heads are gonna be filling up the place. i've gone the past two years but im not sure if ill buy a ticket or not

Livid was the best festival! My last one I saw The Cure and Green Day!
Iron Maiden was one of the best shows I ever saw! Flame machines, robots, awesome songs, if you get the chance go see them.

Whats wrong with that? You afraid they're gonna outparty ya??

Livid was always a yearly trek for me…no matter where I was in Australia I always made it.

It's become more and more mainstream. But I guess that happens with everything in the music industry.

What I find funny is someone on the Soundwave forum last year was like "omg the bands in 2010 are so mainstream, SW should have bands like 30 Seconds To Mars" … and she was dead serious :/

IMO they've got the balance completely wrong this year. Old school metal like Maiden, Slayer, Slash with teeny bopper crap like Nevershoutnever, The Maine and Breathe Carolina. At least last year the heavier/metal bands like Whitechapel, Anthrax, Meshuggah etc are still liked by fans of many of the other less heavy bands. There was more of a balance ie I loved Gallows and Alexisonfire but also liked All Time Low and Paramore. 2011 is wayyyy too uneven.

me too. i went to the one at acer arena in sydney. it was there 2 nights in a row and both nights were sold out!

I just found the website and the lineup here:
http://www.soundwavefestival.com/lineup" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I don't know most of those bands. I normally like the older metal bands. I do see Slayer, Iron Maiden and Rob Zombie on that list so I might have to go to my first ever Soundwave next year.

That line ups alright….probably know half of those bands....Monster Magnet put on a good show, as do the big guys, Yeah I'll probably have a looksey.

Wow, that's not too bad a lineup. I'd go just to see Sevendust alone. Stone Sour, Nonpoint and Ill Nino rock pretty hard too.
