Protecting Lui

I think we all no that Lui's defense is not to crash hot, but that being said i think the real problem is that none of our backrowers are protecting him. Look a Soward, the bloke cant tackle for nuts, but he only has to make about 1 tackle a game because he always has someone like Beau Scott inside him to do all the work for him. Lockyer is seen as the best player in our game, always had someone like Tony Carroll in side him protecting. Where are our backrowers when players like Gasnier are running rings around our young halfback??

I have grave fears with Brown and Lui on the same side. Browns defence at centre was as bad as ive seen. He allowed two tries, and Lui even saved him a few times, yet its Lui being bagged for his defence last Sunday.

Its strange because Brown seems to defend well on the wing, but struggles one place in.

You mean you noticed that too …Gaz made him look like Elford...yet Moltz and Lui get the blame...

Theres far to much man love for Brown. He offers nothing in attack.

I'm a HUGE fan of Mitch Brown(& will be real upset if we don't re-sign him) BUT i'm not blind to mistakes/lack of effort at times. I always re-watch our games, rewind & pause to see what players do & i have to say the only person that put effort & his body into that tackle on Gasnier was Lui. I was confused to see Mitch pull up when he did, but he went to grab Gasnier's shoulder & actually pulled Lui's hand away by mistake, which left Lui only holding on with one arm. Moltz unfortunately doesn't put his body on the line & dug his feet in also so he didn't even go down in the tackle. I'm not trying to start a debate over 'you know who' against 'you know who', it's just a fact that 3 players should've taken Gasnier out & only 1 player put full effort into doing that. Live & Learn i hope. Am confident about Leich. game though, even before they announced the team, after Rd 10 & 11 we have definetly lifted, so bring on the Knights.

Talk about protecting Lui !
Now the thread turns away from his inadequacies into blaming other people!
The only reason Gasnier got to where he did was because Lui missed him by a mile TWICE.
Try rewinding to the previous tackle 60 metres down the field and run on from there,
Now it's Brown's fault Lui can't tackle at first grade standard or Moltzen's fault for being alive or Ellis's fault for having the temerity to get injured and not be there to save him from having to make a tackle.
He can't tackle and he makes too many mistakes .
Time to stop protecting him full stop.

Didn't realise it was ONE players job ALONE to stop Gasnier!!! Was stating what ACTUALLY HAPPENED in the tackle, plain & simple, one player ONLY put their body on the line when it should have been 3!!!! You don't have to like every player but to be so blind & BLAME ONLY ONE player is ridiculous. I'll stand up for any player who has atleast made efforts, esp. one who is only on his 27th NRL game BUT never am i so ignorant to not see even one of my favourite players mistakes(re- Mitch Brown).

Yeah, it's not as if Gasnier has any talent…. That left side has changed 8 times in the last 10 weeks. I'm surprised there hasn't been 50 line breaks down there?! The addition of Ellis & Tuqiri will stiffen that side up, and in a few weeks, it will be fine.

Defence has alot to do with your outside or inside defenders and knowing what they do week in week out...

I didn't say it was one players job - just that Lui missed him badly in the prior tackle that enabled them to get where they did in the first place -then missed him again.
If you like to replay things so much then replay where the commentators made a point of how Lui missed him twice and **replayed it themselves to illustrate how Gasnier made him look like a goose**.
Lui is not the first player to miss Gasnier but unfortunately he misses a lot of other people too,
Tiger Watto predicts him to be MOM with Ellis back to protect him- we shall see.

Ellis is back so defence will improve.

Lui still needs to learn how to tackle and with Folkes in our ranks he should have he on the tackling bags all the time.

Lui needs to lift as Moltzen and Miller are breathing down his neck.

Gasnier is a great player and has made players better than Lui look ordinary over the years.

Let's face it Gasnier and Cooper are the best centre combination in the game today.
