Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

I feel like that’s not a sustainable long term plan . One will eventually have to be groomed to move to right . But I think you’re right , Makasini will probably start on the wing .
Is there a possibility of Turuva at right centre, Skelton at right wing ?
It would likely work from an attacking point of view, obviously Turuva being a bit of a smaller body compared to most centres these days could be an issue defending.

All I asked was to see the stats in all the games he played in as a “backup” and if you can’t show that then me and poopys answer lays in front of us, it seems more of a personal matter the more I read into your debate with poppy diaper
I said if he stays he'd likely be a backup next season. Not that he was this season.
And there are no publicly available stats for Flegg. Not is there any debate. Just a discussion on a player that some see more potential in than I do. Nothing wrong with that.

Kanaan was probably MOM nearly every time he played in that beaten side. Just cuz the side got lapped doesn't mean they were all terrible. There's a reason he got a NSW cup debut this year.
Being the best player in a poor team doesn't by default make you a good player. He's ok, solid but unspectacular. No problem if he stays or goes.

Three players I thought may have been on our radar look to be going to other clubs.

SOUTHS STAR SET FOR SUPER LEAGUE SWITCH

Experienced South Sydney forward Siliva Havili is on the verge of joining Super League club St Helens next year.

The 32-year-old is off-contract at the end of the season and is expected to be squeezed out of the Rabbitohs following their mid-season signing of Brandon Smith.

Havili has bounced around a few clubs since making his debut for the Warriors in 2014. The Tongan represented also played for the Dragons and Raiders before finding a home at South Sydney in 2022.

PANTHERS TARGET WAHS STAR

The Panthers are set to add some depth to their forward pack by securing Warriors’ Tom Ale.

Ale hasn’t played in the NRL this season for New Zealand but before that the 26-year-old featured in 42 games since making his debut in 2020.

This season he has been relegated to NSW Cup. Penrith’s move comes after back-rower Kayliss Fatialofa used the 10-day cooling off period to backflip on the Panthers to remain with the Warriors.

SHARKS CENTRE REJECTS DRAGONS APPROACH

Outside back Mawene Hiroti rejected a late approach from St George Illawarra to remain with Cronulla. The 26-year-old – who made his NRL debut as a teenager for South Sydney in 2018 – has recommitted to the Sharks for next season. Hiroti has been an important squad member at Cronulla since joining the club in 2020.

Why would you with Toa? Toa will get over his injury in off season.

It's a little early to be predicting the team for next year. Things change based on form. We started with Galvin...went to Latu, now have Doueihi.

You just play the best squad at the time. As I said earlier, it's the genuine competition for limited spots that is encouraging.

Just over twelve months after backflipping on the Roosters.

Titans backrower David Fifita is on the verge of giving the ultimate middle finger to the club.

Gold Coast are reportedly confident of getting a deal done with South Sydney to release him next season

Does anyone know the contact situation of Suli Pole? I know he’s been mentioned before but I think he’s exactly what we need for next year. He’s a starting prop for Melbourne Storm who are currently sitting 3 points clear at the top of the Flegg ladder. He’s 6 foot 6 and 120kgs. Each time I’ve seen him play this year he has killed it. Would definitely be worth a top 30 contract for next year over some of the more experienced fringe first grade props that are available.

For the people calling for a barnstorming prop to be added, I think (if the rumours of his availability were right) that the guy we want to add might just be...

Got released by the warriors to the bulldogs then 4 months later the bulldogs were trying to offload him as well .

The entirely misguided Roosters recruitment agenda in that period needs to be further spotlighted!

Fifita was a miss - but their other high profile "wins" in Young and Smith have now been released mid-season.

Targeted recruitment of experienced players is no longer the Roosters strength - and our roster management under Richo & Benji in the past 24 months has been far superior!

Mate the thing that pops into my head first when you mentioned thoses 3 players is

Yardage

I think Skelton general play in games at times has been average but he gets good carries

I also think out of the 3 of them Skeleton has the biggest room for improvement

He's has not played 25 games of NRL and coming over from rugby I think he needs at least 70 he will be a weapon

And I also think the Bears will come for him if we don't lock him up
100% agreed and I would be glad to lock up Skelton!

Skelton, May, Starford and Turuva is a pretty damn awesome backline.

What's more, Skelton learning off May(Tyrone)/Turuva will be fantastic. I rant about the big D but it seems Turuva gets where he needs to be and where his Center partner (usually Starford) needs to be. That's one massive thing we have been missing till 2025.

We haven’t had 2 strike centres since Whataweira & Elford in 2005. It’s been easy for teams to make our attack look permanently clunky. I’m feeling good about next year.
