Punters pick Potter

Cant see the logic but good on them for their beliefs.

For mine I see a side that has been weakened from this year, has a very questionable forward pack (one of the worst in the league), no halfback, no fullback and a couple of busted arsed centers. Doesnt sound like antwhere near a top 8 side to me at the moment.

Over to you Mick. We are going to need the best off season and preparation in this clubs history.

Who's our #1?
Who's our #6?
Who's our #7?
Who's our #14?
Whats our draw like?
Who do we play twice?
How will team adapt to a change after a decade?
How will Potter go?
More questions next season than this season imo

As any club, injuries will play a big role, especially if any of our franchise players is out for an extended period e.g.
- Marshall or Farah;
- Woods and Galloway;
- Lawrence and Koro;
- Tedesco etc.

Go Tigers

Potter, the former Canterbury and St George fullback and former coach of English clubs St Helens and Bradford, takes over from Australian coach Tim Sheens at the **inner west club** next season and inherits a team many felt should have played finals in 2012.

Sorry for going off on a tangent, but this is the first time I have ever seen our club described in this manner.

I journalist wrote this and a for the sake of selling newspapers a DT jounalist is also stirring things up by up writing a story on Benji without talking to Benji. How trustworthy and factual are journalists? Would you buy a used car from a journalist?

I reckon all the Tiger Fans should have a modicum of optimism in Mick & the Squad for the coming season. The Roster says on paper you have a capable top 8 Team. Mick has already intimated that he feels the Tigers should be in the Play Offs, but it is tempered by his time at Bradford in which the old adage "if it can go wrong it will go wrong" played a full part during his tenure there, and it says much about his character to have battled against it and even get the Players playing with an optimism that surprised most of us Fans!
So don't worry about it your in good hands and your Club is in a far better shape than Bradfords.
I think he has a slightly easier job than Ricky Stuart at Eels. Trent Robinson at Chooks or Matty Elliot at Warriors.
Also the Coachs at St Georges, Newcastle, Penrith and Brisbane will be under a lot more pressure this coming season!
The Tigers have still got their growl but can Mick get them to Roar, well he should do in my book!
All the best for the coming season!

Great post Blotto; thanks for that.

There is just so much to fix at the Tigers though Blotto

Learning new coaches style
Defence
Attitude
Confidence
Attack
All the Agendas both on and off field
Our spine

If we manage to get a decent draw early on , we might just scrape into the 8

I'm feel good about 2014 once many of the above issues are fixed

Yeah I'm cautiously optimistic at this stage. Potter seems a sensible kind of man and he's making the right noises at the moment. We have a decent squad with some good options so we should be considered more likely to make the finals than not. For an NRL "rookie" he has a good resume.

They get point 3 right and the rest will flow Happy.

But we haven't been able to get Attitude consistantly right from day dot

Accountability is the other word I should of added

Potter and Sheens sound eons apart ,that will take a lot of getting used to for this squad and could get ugly imo

I'd hope not though and their desire to succeed as a team over-rides that. They are a better group than a 10th placed team but they need to turn potential into results. As you say attitude and accountability are key. Consistently poor players need to be called to answer. I'm optimistic than Anasta can be a positive influence on attitude front though. He has the potential to be a momentum changer in games which is something we struggle with at times. One try often means a few tries. Tries before and after breaks. I think Anasta adds a mental toughness that may see those things become rarer. Well here's hoping anyway!

Actually Yoss our form over the last month in 2012 we were like the 14th or 15th ranked side

And thats where we have to start from Anyone who thinks this club will be easy to turn around is kidding themselves

Its not like the last coach was only here 2-3 seasons and many of our senior players are going to be on a steep learning curve

I hope I'm so wrong you wouldn't believe , but reality tells me otherwise

I think the fact our last coach was here so long was a factor. After a while player stop responding to the same ideas. That's not to say it was Sheens fault necessarily just human nature.

I agree we were awful toward the end of the season but I think a lot of the off-field things were starting to play out and once Farah was unavailable the whole thing fell apart. We lack any sense of direction when Robbie didn't play.

I get the feeling Potter is smart enough to make changes without totally throwing everything away. We've seen at other clubs that players can improve with a change of direction. I also think if he can get Miller working at halfback and Lote or David Nofoaluma on the wing our side has a much nicer balance to it.

Maybe I am a bit glass half full but until I see otherwise I think things are looking up!

dogs had a rookie halfback and 5/8… then the halfback got injured
their fullback had defensive issues
their forwards lacked consistency
several injuries in their backs

personally, mainly due to their obstruction plays i dont think they deserved the minor premiership, but regardless.. they played out their guts... no one was considered a liability in the team. everyone did their job.

imo potter's main battle is the players' mentality on the field, yes we lack props, halfback and a fullback but that's not our biggest issue imo
