Its not the 70's/80's anymore…....
Yawnion arnt up to pace with the leaguies anymore and all you have to do is look at the attempted signings back and forth to see this is the case.
Average NRL players goes to Union and dominate at State Level and generally play Wannabies.
Average Yawnion player switches to NRL and is State Cup standard.
Look at our last 3 failures from Yawnion (Sam Harris, Easts Rugby Captain??, and that nuffy winger last year).
All you would take from Yawnion Australia is Beale and Oconnor. Maybe Ionie. And all 3 are Leaguies anyway.
you are so uninformed.
The kiwi rugby boys say the same thing the other way, that league players are rubbish blah, blah, blah
neither are true.
For Starters, not that it matters but Curtley has not played league since he was 13.
If you are making comparisons Super 15 and NRL is where the comparison has to be made.
You compared Shute shield players (pretty much amatuer football)with NRL, there is no comparison between the 2.
Full time professionals.vs part time and all that.
That said Saffy and Taniela were reasonable signings from that cmop, Tim McGann and Grant were not.
Most of the players that have converted to Rugby from league have been either top class (Tuquiri, Rogers, Sailor, Falou), or rugby players going back ( Cross, Barnes, Palu, McCrae, Tomane etc) the only players I can think of that dont fit one of those 2 categories are Brett Sheehan and Cooper Vuna.
Not all players are suitable for both games, and many are more suited to one than the other.
The gulf in talent is imagined.
The blokes play in the S15 play all the kiwi teams who rattle of the blokes that dont make their academies but end up in the NRL doing well and say that the NRL is obviously not as good as S15, Matt Duffie and COnrad Hurrell could not make the Canterbury and Wellington development sides and are playing NRL does this mean that the S15 is heaps better than the NRL, of course not.
