Queensland Holiday destination

Calling all Queenslanders,

Myself and wife and two sons, are thinking of a holiday anywhere in the area , from Coolongatta up to Cairns.Two sons, 19 & 17.

Looking at NSW school holidays in July as 17 yr old is in Yr 11.

Is the weather still decent up there in July, for outside activities, to keep sons motivated and involved, so they won't be bored, :smiling_imp: :unamused: :wink: like jet ski-ing, para sailing, etc.( I know it can be pot luck)

Are there any places you recommend to stay in or visit,

any advice would appreciated

I do hope wests-tigers go beter this year, and don't have to rely on points for/against not to finish last

If you are coming to QLD, come to gods country. Ill give you plenty of things to fill your days with!

Also in July you might be up here around the time of the 3rd Origin. If you have never experienced a QLD pub or club for Origin you are in for a treat.

Also if you are up here at the beginning of July, you can get your NRL fix. The Cows are playing the Bunnies up here at Barlow :wink:

Glen, jet skis are barred in Byron area so keep your foot on the gas when going past, if desperate at the time maybe could put you up overnight on way going up, depends on my situation. Only stop if your missus does not mind you perusing a few G String bikini bums. I never look myself.

Hervey Bay has a lot of that covered Glen

On the main esplanade they have jet skis and the like

Down near the Urangan Pier they have paragliding

Whale watching is pretty popular at this time of year also if that's interests you and the fishing isn't bad either

You can do day trips to Fraser Island which I would recommend to anyone Fraser Island is truly beautiful , you get many of Qld main features on this one place Lake Freshwater is a must

Townsville a nice place also , bit warmer as well but stay away the first weekend of the holidays

They have a massive footy carnival with 64 teams and a big basketball tournament , you will struggle to get accommodation

I think the V8's are the last weekend as well (but just double check that , it may have changed )

Stryker's neck of the woods is nice also Again you have many Islands to visit , you can swim anytime of the day on the beaches (barring the big bities lol ) and you have the Daintree north of you and some wonderful areas in the Atherton Tablelands

Agnes Waters and 1770 are about an hour south of Happy and as I said in the PM you might want to check water sports are available

They do a day trip on the LARC and you get to see some of the area and they sand skiing down the dunes which is pretty cool

Any of the Island resorts all along the coast are good and they do great deals I would recommend Hamilton Island up north and Tangalooma Island down south ( but haven't been to Tangalooma for 20 years and again it is a bit cooler down south

Around the Coolangatta area and Gold Coast Weather wise you will be fine, i can count on one hand the number of times i have needed a Jumper over Winter in 9 years that i have been here.

In terms of Accommodation it really depends on your Budget ?
i've stayed at the Twin Towns Mantra before and in terms of Location and pricing ? there quite good . For the 4 of youse maybe $220.00 per night is what they will charge per night .
What i loved about this Accommodation is you go down the lifts from your room walk across the bridge over the road and your at Twin Towns Club with Live Music and a few Restaurants in the Club…..Flame Tree Restaurant is brilliant and we go there from time to time with the Family . There is a Sports Bar in there where Underdog, larrycorowa and myself enjoyed the Knights game .
Twin towns Mantra is a stone throw away to the Esplanade .

If you want a bit more affordable Accomadation ? There is Motels for $80.00 a Night and it's a 2 Minute drive to Twin Towns and Coolangatta.......let me know if you need there numbers and i will get it for you, PM me .
If your looking at staying for anywhere near 1 week near Coolangatta ? there is Holiday Rentals in Kirra which your on the Beach litterally and close to Restaurants , you can Rent a 2 or 3 Bedroom Apartment for the week for maybe $600.00 - $800.00.
From Kirra or Coolangatta it's about a 20 minute drive to Broadbeach and 30 Minutes to Surfers Paradise , obviously the closer you want to stay at Surfers the more you will be paying in Accomadation.
Jupiters Casino is at Broadbeach and i highly recommend the Buffet they have , no problems with your 17 year old going to the Restaurants in the Casino.
You have the Theme Parks for your kids Sea World , DreamWorld , Movie World , Wax Museum .
Near Byron Bay which is a 40 Minute drive from Coolangatta there is Sky diving if your after any Adrenaline rush :smiley: .
Nimbin is not far from Byron and that will spin you folks out :mrgreen: :laughing: Geo makes some good Pies there .

Yeah spot on happy.

We stayed at the Hotel and our balcony was an Ocean drop view, literally ocean water looking down from the balcony with a Spa on the Balcony aswell :wink:

Got a ride to Daydream island from there and another time we stayed at Hamilton Island.
