I don't like the answer about 2015 recruitment being 'focused' on outside the club. Not the right message to be sending to our juniors. I'd like to focus on them and fill the gaps with players recruited elsewhere.

I'm interested in the Super League answer though. From the way I read it it sounds like theres a couple of players who have all but signed.

I wouldn't read a lot into Grant's comments about 2015 recruitment being focused on "outside the club". I took it to mean that 2014 recruitment would largely focus on within the club and that in 2015 may be more of a look at the market. Who knows though, who's to say we'd not be best to again focus on within, Player form can change, players can come out of nowhere, the same way they can drop off the scene. A lot can change in 12 months.

That was quite refreshing to read.

So it seems Benji is getting an upgrade on what he's paid in proportion to the salary cap for the seasons he is signed for. Which is fair enough if that's what was agreed in his contract.

Brooks and Moses are very much the answers we're looking at in a few years.

Would be interested to know who the players in the ESL being looked at are. I'm guessing its a prop forward from what's been said.

It seems what came out may possibly be true in that we're still paying Ellis, Gibbs and I can't remember the 3rd and 4th names. Alternatively we have players that are still being paid by former clubs. I'm guessing Anasta, Pettybourne, Thompson and Reddy are the 4 that fall in that category. More then likely the first 2 who were moved on somewhat compared to the other 2.

So it looks like we wont be signing anyone else from the NRL for 2014…perhaps only an ESL player...

Brooks and Moses are our future halves...I expect Brooks to be our #7 next year and Moses our 5/8 from 2016.

Nothing in there we didn't already know. He as good as says that Benji and Brooks will be the halves in 2014 and 2015, with Moses coming in in 2016\. He acknowledges that Benji has been of value to the club on and off the field.

What on earth does 'going forward' mean? Is there any other direction you can go in?

Good read and a refreshing approach and attitude from Mayer. I am sure I speak for everyone here when I say thank you for taking the time to answer many of the questions members have fielded on here.

Well said…..its a nice refreshing change.
The replies were as expected, not much given away but as someone else said, I dont think anyone expected a sworn testimony.
Well done to the club on this excersice

Grants saying all the right things so far, thumbs up!

I rarely say 'refreshing' 😱pen_mouth:

thanks mayer…

a follow up from this quote "An outside back wouldn’t go astray." im not sure if u mean that we need more outside backs??

already, we have aysh, lawrence, richards, simona, moltzen, teddy, nofo and meaney signed for next year with most probably extensions of koro's and reddy's or even mr t... unless im missing something, im not sure if we should be signing any more outside backs

also are we looking at moulding reddy and lawrence into future backrowers?

I guess you could be 'going backward'!

I hate the phrase. Julia ruined it, that was all we heard from them for about a month at one stage.

Other than that line, I like the rest of what GM says. And interesting comment on Miller.

Grant, to get more members, we should have $20.00 membership with one home ticket, get the numbers up and you will spend the dollar at the game, less is more, that what Souths do? :righton:

A question : Can you please give us an exact list of our top 25 this season, and then a list of what our confirmed and locked in top 25 for next year is at present? This yr has been tough with injuries. It would help everyone understand how/why our line-up changes as the season progresses and the injury ward come back into the frame. Thanks in advance.

Yeah….don't think he's gonna answer that one. And it'll be out of date by next year, so only relevant for like 8 or 9 weeks.

If questions are still being taken…...

When is the current deal with Wests Tigers -- SCG/Allianz Stadium up for renewal. and would the club look at going back to ANZ Stadium if a better offer was offered?
