R.I.P. Mosese Fotuiaka....

Has there been any confirmation of exactly how he died yet? I don't want to sound insensitive, but it feels like we are just assuming that he committed suicide, but I have not seen the word in any article relating to his death.

It wasn't suicide.

I heard it mentioned once on radio that he took his own life

and whenever the cops report 'no suspicious circumstances' and an article includes contact details for Lifeline, it's implied.

I am finding it pretty difficult to deal with actually, especially since I did not know him beyond seeing a few of his Toyota Cup games on telly. My anticipation for this season has gone from fever pitch, to not even feeling like watching any games.

I had a relative take his own life not too long ago and I guess this has stirred some memories.

Im pretty sure the funeral for Moses will be held tommorow in brisbane.
Were im not sure but.
Hope your soul is at ease now :frowning:

mentioned extensively in the media

would you be able to link me to any?
i have only read it on a couple of forums, no quotes from police, nrl or wt.

if no reason has been given by any official, i sincerely hope they give one asap. this is because if you dont.. then people/media starts speculating

I hope I dont offend anyone by saying this,,, But I have heard from a reliable source that it was a suicide. This was after being pumped up for a big breakout season with a debut in the NRL on the cards and when the pectoral injury happened he would be sidelined for 6 months pretty much ruling him out of this season altogether. Very sad.

this is the speculation im talking about. im not doubting you tigsta… i heard they were waiting for his family to come down from brisbane.. been a while since then as well.

i know you dont mean any offense tigsta.. but i just want something official, to negate any "i have heard from a reliable source", "it's a well believed theory that.." etc.

im sorry if something official has been said, but i havent heard anything

I agree that I haven't read any "official" comment on the circumstances of his death. But, in my opinion, that, more than anything, points to it being self-inflicted. Having been through the associated trauma of such an event (if true) for one even younger than Mosese, I hope those who love him have some understanding of why he took that option. I hope he's found a better place than that he chose to leave.

Nothing official yet. But it's not going to be announced in here first. I gave you some detail.
In the end it's a tragedy.
I would think that there will be a moments silence on Monday night. With the players wearing armbands.

Am I the only one annoyed the Footy Show didn't mention his death last night

I don't mean to upset anyone , but I was filthy as all hell they didn't say a thing and the same with Benji not even bringing it up

maybe it will be mentioned at a later date, so some of the boys involved on the panel can cope with it being mentioned (Benji and Beau)? Although i do agree with you, they could have mentioned it

there may be more to it than we think. nothing official from anyone, not beig mentioned on TFS, all you can find in the media about this is really just farah saying a ocuple of statements + twitter.

hope everyone is coping well

Perhaps they didn't at the request of his family? Maybe they wish to grieve privately.

They mentioned other deaths from the off-season, but all others were not suicide. I was surprised it wasn't mentioned, considering we have the R U OK round and all, which is in place to attempt to stop such tragedies like we have just seen with Mosese.
I did read MG's column in RLW which was all about Mosese and suicide and it was well written, I'm my opinion.
I hope the boys rip in just that little bit harder on Monday night, just for Mosese…...

No idea Diver. I was just floating the idea that perhaps the club asked them to respect the privacy of the family during this time.

Not sure. Mosese's long time girlfriend is quite active on Instagram and does write a fair very heart felt comments under her photos she is posting of him, talking about the future and the baby she is carrying etc.
