Found dead from a suspected heart attack…while exercising..

Way too young..

Thoughts and prayers with the family..

Wow - that's a shock. Good player and pretty good old school coach.
Thoughts for his family.

Probably one of the last people you would think would pass early, was an assistant to Tim Sheens and probably should have taken over when Tim got the punt. Vale Steve Folkes.

RIP

It's crazy how life works. Professional footballer, kept fit, yet his heart still failed on him at 59.

Really need to treat every day on this earth like it's your last.

Horrible news. Not unsurprising though.

It's not good to push yourself in your later years, a few studies suggest that overexercising at an older age makes you just as susceptible to heart attack as the person who is 30kg overweight and smokes a pack a day.

He gave a lot to the game, especially the Bulldogs. Seemed like a top bloke to boot too.

Always respected him. The only time we ever seemed like a decent defensive unit for more than a few werks was when he was involved. That alone shows his strength of character!

I'm sure he will be missed and commiserations to his family and friends.

There aren't enough words to describe this absolute legend of rugby league….

R.I.P Steve....thoughts go out to his family and friends...

May the good Lord watch over them in this time of grief...

Funny, my first thoughts were that it doesn't matter how fit you are, death doesn't discriminate. But what you say makes sense.

Very sad news.

Sad news.

Good player, good coach and a good role model.

I met him a couple of times and he seemed like a really humble and polite bloke given what he achieved.

Very sad news…...
Even though he played for the Bulldogs, he was one of my favourite players.

Also played it hard and fair.....

There was talk of him at one stage coming to the Tigers as Coach....I reckon he would have done a good job.
