Adam Doueihi #227

This year is this year and next year we can start worrying about during the off season.
I dont think we should be focussed on next year...leave things be as they are theres only 4 games to go, im sure they are working around Latu at 7 at training as well currently.
Dont need to muddy the waters we should be focussed on finishing the season as strong as possible to go into the off season with an upbeat positive mindset .
Theres still new players yet to arrive...i want to go into summer with optimism not the last memory being a 60 hiding

No they’re not he’s training as a 14, bit of lock and dummy half, occasionally half. I am at trading now, doobies at half. I also think getting Doubie to play lock but still to be heavily involved in the kicking game needs to be built into his game. That takes time to get right, we need his long kicking game and his torpedo bombs would be good as well. We don’t want start from scratch next season with all this. Toa is also at centre, no sign of naden and tinos not training.

Winning games is important for confidence, but for fans at least finishing 12th of 15th doesn't make a big difference.

I just hope there is a plan and contingencies with the planning. I don't care if we lose the remaining games this year as long as we are developing for next year. But at the same time, ending the season with a losing spree would shatter the team's confidence going into pre-season as well.

Rest of this year I would play AD at 7 with Latu at 14 , Latu needs to own the 7 before he is picked for first grade each week , so far he has only shown small bits , if we had a decent player to cover lock I would put Latu back to reserve grade at 7 fo the rest of the season not as punishment but to get him going , he has played very little footy this season
Ur kidding giving madden a run , we would need 25 injured players before the muffed gets a run

Who is training in place of Tito?

Who is training in place of Tito?
Mixture of Staines and tupininoa. But Tito was there and very vocal, just not doing the physical training. Think he must be ok and most likely will play. Toa doesn’t look 100%. They all look very connected hope that translates!

I like what we are doing with Latu. He is a good enough player to come off the bench and contribute for 20-30 minutes, so it's not like we are giving him token minutes. Doueihi outplayed him so the 7 is his for now. Latu will come again and get another crack. Hopefully by then he is feeling more confident and at home in first grade.
BLEEDING OBVIOUS ELEPHANT IN THE ROMEY: Jarome is not a halfback. He plays as a running 5/8 on the left - always has.
LATU F is not a Halfback. He has always played on the left as a running 5/8
Benji is a bad mentor if he is pretending that LATU is a halfback. We actually had this problem when the GALVOUT was here cos he was a left-sided running 5/8 - NOT A HALFBACK! The reason our attack has been clunky from day 1 in 2025 is cos we did not have a right-sided halfback who would run the attack. Pretty obvious folks!

As is commonly done, we have the experts who think they've identified a problem, but you offer no solution. Not much to discuss other than negativity.

Haven’t bulldogs recruited Galvin to be their halfback with Burton as running 5/8th?

Latu will be halfback next year with AD jumping in from time to time depending on game situation I think. Madden is a backup half for injury or poor form. Why do people think after watching Latu for about 6 first grade NRL games that he can’t be an effective halfback alongside Jerome. We expect blokes to be Peter Sterling out of the gate or we best chase another option.
Spine in 2026 is pretty much flagged I reckon,
Bula, Jerome, Latu, Api with AD lock / utility. A few games to end this year and a full pre season - reason to be a bit excited I think. Jerome will brain it next year. Second season in the stripe with some quality building around him.

I was thinking about it and he's made a lot of sacrifices by staying here. At st George he'd have a much clearer path to either a halves role or at 13. They're pretty weak across all those positions. With us he's accepting, it seems, a utility role with no guarantee of position anywhere. Shows he does truly feel loyal to the club if he has in fact accepted less money. This impacts not only his next contract but the one after it as at the dragons he'd be a much better chance of showing his halves skills where with us he is no guarantee.

Doueihi has his faults but the biggest issue with him had been his tackling. Having improved there he's a quality player to have re-signed and I appreciate he's one of few players recently who have genuine affection for the club.
Why aren’t the press trumpeting about a player accepting less to resign with the Wests Tigers because he loves the club and like what he sees building there? Why isn’t Buzz questioning Flannos inability to attract players even with a bigger checkbook. AD does have his flaws, but he is an out and out first grade quality player with versatility and a touch of class. Also loves the big moment. Remember poor ole Brooksy?

lol, you don’t want the same spine every week, that’s fine.
I think we all just want the best spine every week.

Not saying that as a knock on Jock.

Who knows who is going to shine and come out on top and be fully fit at the end of the pre-season leading into 2026.

Who honestly thought Galvin was going to be the one when we were nearing the end of the 2023 season.

I want Madden in the spine every week. The KOE spine. If he’s a regular in the NRL spine it can only mean one thing - we’ve p00ped the bed
The alternatives are get Bud Sullivan back or give Doueihi the 7 jersey, neither desirable options.
In our top 30 we have 7 centres and 5 wingers, but only a 7 which we’re now convinced is a 6, and a 6 we’re trying to transform into a 7.
While one of our 7 centres happens to be our best 13, like our previous 7, he wants to ware the 7 jersey because that’s where the money is.
We have 4 games to get it right, why waste the valuable playing time? You can’t replicate it at training sessions.

Jock has been mentored by the same top halfback we refused to go after.
His form for the Broncos has been better than what we saw on the way to a few spoons.

Still doesn't mean that he will be the NRL #7 come the start of the 2026 season, in any case I hope he proves to be a worthwhile signing for us.
