Racing tips, talk etc

More housing would be put on the Rosehill site and a new racetrack built on the site of Penrith golf course is the plan.
I wonder what local golfers think of this proposal.
Morriset Golfcourse was recently turned into a heap of housing lots adding to the already congested arterial roads.
I want Rosehill to stay as is of course.
Just too many people to cater for who want or need to live in city regions.
And we'd be looking at least 5 years for Warwick Farm to be redeveloped and the new track to be built at a time when Racing is fighting for it's future with ever declining turnover.
It's lunacy.

And while I'm ranting let's remember that V'landys is famous for saying that putting extra taxes on turnover won't have any effect on how punters operate because they're all mugs .
Corporate bookies are now taking 20% on many markets to cover the extra costs and punters have reacted. Turnover is plummeting.
Who's the mug now Pete?

Without Rosehill I'd presume there'll more provincial tracks hosting City meetings. Turnover will undoubtedly drop further because of that (Hawkesbury, Wyong and Gosford are notorious no go zones for punters) so V'landys will undoubtedly raise the taxation levels, leading to even less turnover.
Racing has always been run by imbeciles.
go back and look at 4 corners doco on vlandys and the trotts at Harold Park, he has done a good job with racing nsw and nrl but geez they built Menangle and he has stuffed up trotting racing

the sale would be like, we ask you to sell your house, we think you will get 2 million however you will get it sometime in the next 10 years however we can't tell you when and you will ot get the entire 2 million at once.

madness, too airy fairy and vague

racing nsw have resorted to effectively give-aways for members $1000 on food and Beveridge and free memberships, well my old man is 80 and once you have been a member for 25 years the membership is free anyway so it doesn't affect him as he has been a member for 50 years

Balmain leagues club did something similar moved out and sold the club at Rozelle under the understanding the metro would be built and keneally changed her mind on the metro and it never got built the libs then didnt reverse it and the rest is history

atc wants rosehill as a non core asset that is what they are trying to do, sell Canterbury if they want some cash

Can you really say he's done a good job with racing when many fear for it's future with turnover dropping at a never before seen rate?
V'Landys is a short-term sugar fix guy.
As you rightly said the sale of Harold Park was a short term sugar fix.
Harness Racing now has diabetes.

he took on Victorian racing and has single handedly destroyed the spring carnival for vic (apart from Melbourne ourne cup day) the Everest is on caulfield cup day and he has a big group one every day of vic carnival to compete. He has the Sydney Autumn carnival which completely overshadows races like Newmarket handicap and lightning.
NSW racing is the dominant jurisdiction in Australia so credit to vlandys for that.

This sale however is a huge mistake, I know they have always wanted to do night racing at randwick so selling Canterbury would make much more sense

That's nice for that month and a half for NSW, if only there weren't 12 months in a year.
I would also argue that diminishing the Vic. carnival has the long term effect of diminishing interest as a whole in racing. The betting figures reflect that
Smart promotion that considers the future of racing, not just glory for Pete, would have both carnivals feeding off each other.
You talk about the Vic. carnival being diminished like it's a good thing. That carnival is part of promoting interest in racing for the rest of the year.
The novelty of the Championships and the Everest is already wearing thin and turnover, the only measure that counts, is dropping almost terminally.
Short term highs are just that, short term.

I'll also add that racing discussions on forums like this are always centred on carnivals and Saturday racedays. There are 6 other days in the week that provide the bread and butter that runs racing.
Country clubs are bleeding.
Turnover is spiraling downwards.

P”TV”L
I reckon his Mrs is at home with the old VCR recording every time he’s in the TV and when he gets home they both sit down after dinner to watch himself on the picture box.

they never have, Victorian carnival has always looked down on nsw racing. Like the PGA golf doesnt just revolve around u.s.a hence liv happened, racing in this country doesn't just revolve around VRC and MVRC, if Vlandys hadn't come along with concepts like Everest (taken from pegasus in u.s.a.) they would still be poor cousins

racing these days is not about turnover anymore it is just creating a party atmosphere and drinking worh the races as a side note. Racing worldwide is dying that is not vlandys fault

Exactly, ask the Provincial and Country clubs if V'Landys has been good for racing NSW.

The amount of time I select a horse on fixed odds on Sportsbet and between the time I select I and try to pay the bet they say the odds have reduced is crazy .. within 5 secs ,, because you are in a hurry I normally accept it reduced odds .. but often if I cancel the attempted bet when you go back to the field it’s at the same price again .. it feels very much like they are always trying to lowball the quote , just so they can .. anyone else have similar experiences?

Rosehill survives.
Hal, feel more than free to DM me a tip if you have any good ones at any time , especially in the provincial midweeks or Sunday or country or whatever.. I saw you posted you had a good day in Bairnsdale or Ballarat or somewhere recently and was very jealous because I had a shocker at that day on those races .. about a month ago now.. I could really use a leg up ! 🤣😎🤝

Every Corporate categorizes their punters. They employ people to label each punter according to their expertise at punting.
If they decide you have clue, they'll do things like reducing the odds they offer you to circumvent the minimum bet laws.
You may have been classified in that bucket.

My record of tipping on here is pretty mediocre but because I bet most days law of averages says you’ve got to have some good days every so often.
If I think I can help I will but like all of us we are basically on our own. I do have one black booker running today - Doomben R6 -8 Jealous, if you’re interested.
Good luck and good punting TNK.

Yes exactly the same
Especially when it’s just about time to jump.
I do the same go back and start again.
Gives me the Sh-ts
They offer you a bet return (top 3)
but the price is 1 point lower than starting price.
