RADICAL SHAKEUP TO NRL SCHEDULE ON THE CARDS
Written by STAFF WRITERS , November 11, 2015
THE NRL broadcast schedule for 2016 could undergo radical changes as early as next season with Thursday night and a 6pm game on Friday set to be introduced as permanent fixtures.
The proposed move would bring an end to Monday night football with Fox Sports set to broadcast the new Friday evening timeslot.
In another shakeup all three of Channel Nine’s matches across the round could be simulcast on Fox Sports at a cost of around $15 million.
The current television deal is still valid until the end of the 2017 season but if all parties involved agree, these changes could very well be introduced next season.
POTENTIAL 2016 NRL TV SCHEDULE
Thursday
8pm: Nine
Friday
6pm: Fox Sports
8pm: Nine
Saturday
3pm: Fox Sports
5.30pm: Fox Sports
