Yet another NRL star is set to defect to rugby, with star winger Sisa Waqa mulling a backflip on the Canberra Raiders for a sensational defection to the Top 14 rugby competition in France within weeks.

Melbourne Storm flyer Waqa signed a two-year deal to join Canberra Raiders from next season, which the Green Machine announced in July, but it’s understood he has room to renege on that deal.

Waqa began his football career in union, representing Fiji at just 17, and is now in the sights of big-spending clubs in France who are confident he will make the switch after this final round of NRL games.

Krisnan Inu has already left the NRL to play French rugby, while Sonny Bill Williams and Sam Burgess will be playing the 15-man code next year.
