Raiders sign Tedesco - Official

Mixed feelings about this.

Disappointed with Teddy for leaving the club that gave him a go and then was patient with him during his long term injuries but its hard to argue with him when the Raiders offer $650k a year!

Teddy knows he has problems with his knees which may cause further injuries in the future which ultimately, will affect his asking price in future contract negotiations so he has to make the most of the offers he gets now. Luckily for him, the Raiders are in a dire situation and in desperate need of a quality fullback after the loss of Milford.

Wish Teddy the best at Canberra.

I would have done the same thing.

I'm sad to see him go…

I would have been angry if we tried to match 800k a year.

Good luck to him, as much as I would say that I wouldn't. If I was in his position, I would use this contact to set me up for life as well.

Good luck to him.

Money does speak sometimes.

Can't deny him the money, but as a supporter, it is very extremely disappointing.

He may be with us for 2014, but I see him as a Raider now. Used to love him, now he can go to hell.

Pick him as 18th man for each match for the rest of the year, let him sit on the bench and see what he is missing out on. I wish him nothing but poor form and wooden spoons.

Can someone explain to me if there is any of the following benefits for bringing up players through training schemes?
-do you get an allowance on the cap if you brought them up?
-do you get any cash when another team signs them?
Just curious.

Big fan of Teddy but considering the pain and anguish of previous seasons where we had talented playmakers but couldn't capitalise, I would rather sign an aggressive forward pack because we haven't had that for a while. Moreover, teddy is injury prone (some contested this in a previous post), his running style which makes him so valuable also makes him fragile.

Agreed. He could have been part of something special. Might as well leave him in reggies and start focusing on our future fullback.

Ouch, this hurts sooooooo bad.
Call it sour grapes, but the Tigers owe him nothing. Cant see much point in playing him in first grade now he is a Raider. He could be that x factor that gets us deep into the finals, but i think the club should be developing his replacement for the remainder of the year. Not sold on Rowe for the long term option though.

Def would not play Tedesco…he should go now.

There is something seriously wrong with the NRL contracts system when a player who has only made 24 first grade appearances can even be _offered_ a contract like that.

Can not blame him 4 the money!!!

But I blame our recruitment team, why is it that nofo, siro, koro and tedesco were not signed last year when they would have been alot alot cheaper to buy!!!!!
They wait until it is open slather and then try to compete, guess what the price goes up!!!!
Blind freddy could tell that these players had it and were going to be regular first graders!!!

You can bag out the sheens management as much as you like. But they would never have let this happen!!!!

A JOKE!!

Let him play Reggie's now. Develop Rowe some more and see what he can offer, although not completely sold on him. I wouldn't mind putting an offer in for Hoffman. They now have himself, Barba and Milford to fit into two spots, and we can offer him something the broncs can't - #1 on his back which is what he wants

Thats not a bad idea.

I agree with most on here , it's not as if we are going to win the comp this year , so nsw cup is his destination for the year why should he be part of any of our success this year .
Might sound like sour grapes but we have to play players who are going to be here next year

James Tedesco re-injury analysis info for Canberra Raiders.
source http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/16084292

Incidence and risk factors for graft rupture and contralateral rupture after anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction.

CONCLUSIONS:
After reconstruction, repeat ACL injury occurred in 12% of patients over 5 years. Twelve months after reconstruction, the ACL graft is at no greater risk than the contralateral ACL, suggesting that adequate graft and muscular function for most activities is achieved by this time.

**Risk factors for repeat ACL injury identified included a return to competitive side-stepping, pivoting**, or jumping sports, and the contact mechanism of the index injury. Female patients were at no greater risk of repeat ACL injury than male patients and graft choice did not affect the rate of repeat ACL injury.

well that's a stinker but behind every cloud there is a silver lining . cant blame teddy taking the money . stuart has to buy as many top players as he can he is not great coach needs as much help as he can get

Maybe we're doing what we did with Bryce Gibbs.

Would love to keep him, he's part of the team, good player, etc…
But the risk isn't worth the reward due to his body and injury prone nature.

I'm a bit shattered though to be honest, Tedesco can go jump for all I care.
