I've never seen Melbourne so poor in the hygiene areas of the game.
  • Not competing for bombs
  • Ball rolling on the ground, 2-3 guys look at it and no one dives on it
  • Running sideways in attack
  • Guys in position to assist tackles but don't make an effort to slow the tackle down
They've never been the most flamboyant in attack, but they would always beat other teams on grittiness and willingness to make the 1% effort plays - plays that 99% of the time are a waste of energy, but that 1% of the time you can save a try or linebreak.

The loss of Papenhuyzen seems underrated. Fa'alogo, for all his talents with ball in hand, is poor defensively. Often caught out of position, especially in goal-line defence.

I'm here for the downfall of Melbourne. Didn't think I would see it happen in my lifetime.

Cam Smith made his career out of catching players instead of tackling. I think the game has moved on from that.

Now you gotta come up fast, make solid contact, get a second man in and then quickly go to marker.

Dogs, Warriors and Panthers do that better than any other team currently. Raiders did it well last year.
 
How satsifying is it to watch a Melbourne storm press conference and see the so called super coach Bellamy lost for words to Journo's questions as to why they are performing so badly....uncharted territory and may it continue!

The poor buggers got Panthers A game then the Warriors A game. They also have a stack of injuries.

Couldn’t write them off completely.

Yes it was interesting to see Bellamy so at a loss. He seemed a little vague to me, not focused, maybe even worn down.
As usual some very dumb journos asking ridiculous questions. Some of them seem like they have no understanding of the game!
 
Parras effort against us is always an outlier. They look pathetic today. I didnt think they really came that hard at us physically compared to our own intensity , so hopefully we arent as sluggish

Our forwards smashed them. I suspect that Parra hasn't fully recovered.

But it's true that Moses is always extra fired up to beat us, so he probably pushes the team (and refs) harder than usual.
