Realistic team list round 1 2018

Which half and his coach are at loggerheads over team selections?

This player wants to swap a member of their spine with a rookie as they’ve struck up quite the combination at training but the coach won’t budge.

Ash Taylor would be the half and Alex Brimson the rookie. Give a guy a million a season and he'll think he runs the joint…

I reckon that is very very close to the team that will run out round 1

Very realistic. .

Marsters is the back up goal kicker…

Seeing Esan was played on both sides the other night, it certainly looks that one spot is his, with the combination with wingers being considered. Unless Taane puts in a performance that demands selection, I also think Kev may well get first shot with MWZ on the left.

Whats with this fascination of naiqama at centre? If he gets put in the centres in front of milne and marsters I will be spewing. He can play wing or a backup fullback. Thats it.

Will you write Cleary a stern email ..? as that's how it's looking…

No. Cleary has chosen right so far from last year. Giving Eisenhuth the lock position was a great pick. The fact that naiqama only got a year deal last time should highlight him in the pecking order…

Naiqama is handy and a reasonable backup in a few positions. The problem is, he's not one of our two best centres and I think Corey Thompson is a better winger too.

If he was new to the club I think he misses out on firsts. He is an incumbent though, so the onus is probably on the others to displace him.

He tries his guts out but he's too limited in many aspects of his game and has little upside. Should be used as cover for injury and to keep the others honest imo.

True. Dont even know this alex brimson. On another note, how the hell are gold coast above us in the odds for this year? new coach, no depth, alot of non nrl players and they are above us in the betting? ?.. turn it up.

Cleary will link Milne and Nofoaluma on one side then on the other play Marsters and Fonua together.

Just need to see Fonua get his fitness up and that will be our backline id say. The combinations looked right in the first trial. Suited each other.

This is what I think should happen and I think it will be one of the better backlines in the comp excluding our halves.

Good post. Someone had to say it.

Per my reply to Seantice above, ask the coach.

More to the point, where is all the fascination for Gamble coming from. I thought he went well the other night, but has a way to go to force his way in.

I always thought the purpose of a trial was to help the coach make up his mind. Its a way to try out some things.

That said i thought it pretty obvious Milne and Marsters were the preferred centre combination.

I wouldnt expect you to see the point of Gamble if you honestly think Naiqama is one of our best players.

Hope so Earl, its looking that way.

With 1 trial to go the **players in bold are locked in for round 1** but heres the rest:
1\. **Lolohea**
2\. **Nofaluma**
3\. **Milne**
4\. **Masters**
5\. MWZ (got edge over Thompson with height)
6\. **Reynolds**
7\. **Brooks**
8\. **Packer**
9\. Mccillrick (until liddle can comeback, unless he is killing it)
10\. **Mataulino**
11\. McQueen
12\. **Taylor** **©**
13\. **Eisenhuth** (but don't know if he and Taylor will go vice versa)

14\. Aloiai
15\. Sue
16\. Rochow (really impressed me in the trial, he is also pretty massive)
17\. Twal

18\. Benji
19\. Lawrence (I really love the guy but i just don't see him good enough for the team, maybe the bench but not starting. He has always put effort in but needs to step it up a but)
20\. Grant
21\. JJ Felise

x 2

we play roosters in round 1.

possible naiaama against latrell mitchell.

naiqama 179cm 93kgs
latrell 193cm 104kgs.

sorry but that wont be pretty..

I got to say that I love the depth we have in the forwards.. Last 3-4 years we nearly all agreed on the same side. This year there are arguments for many different sides. Its a nice change.

Who are we thinking? To do with Moses? Robbie? Cleary Junior? Couldn't be a current Tigers player, as Brooks is our half and arguably of our spine he's on the most shaky ground of all.

My thoughts are it is either Ash Taylor, Milford, Foran or Reynolds

The way Grub played the other night I doubt it is him.

At this point Thompson edges out MWZ
If Thompson has another good game this weekend against the sharks he will be in the second wing position
He may shift to fullback with Reynolds to Hooker and Tui to half as per the trial
IMO
Same goes for Gamble as a bolter for the bench utility
He looked very Dangerous close to the line on a number of occasions
He got a quick play the ball and we scored on that play
Also scored one himself

James Maloney -wayde egan?

That kid can play.

Wayde certainly can play he’s from Lithgow and I’ve seen him play before the Panthers are going to use him as NC replacement when he signs with the West’s Tigers.

Not sure why plenty of people are pushing for Reynolds to be slotted in at DH from time to time- from the reports of the Cowboys game his passing from DH seemed to be quite poor?
Also what is the go with Fonua's fitness with some suggesting he couldn't run out 80 minutes, not a great sign from a potential outside back. Very unprofessional if it isn't injury- related. Disappointing.

Its the way he warmed up before the game
Looked a bit lazy or tierd
If he can get his fitness up he will be a real asset
Reminds me of a bigger version of Matt Utai
