Recruitment strategy?

Firstly, once again it's necessary to point out some details, rather than acting like Telgraph journalisst and writing any old thing down.

McDonnell is our juniors recruitment manager. Now has nothing to do with senior recruitment (unless something's changed recently).

Kidwell is our forwards coach. Not our defensive coach.

Now then you can add that we don't really have a recruitment strategy. We hope we develop good kids and they develop to be first graders and have enough loyalty to stay with us.

We try sign a few cheap experienced players to help these kids. Occasionally we splash for an Ellis/Blair.

Milone was really poor earlier in the season. I heard he had wraps on him but he looked like a poor man's Dean Collis. He played one great game where he scored a few tries and bombed several more by being selfish, but in general was a small and weak player, with little pace average defence and an occasional step. You usually need to kill it at NYC level to be able to make the step up.

He should be way down the pecking order for the centres (in nsw cup).

@Mighty Tiger, totally agree with your comments,Kidwell in my opinion has contributed SFA as a defensive coach,I also don't know what all the hype was about, the boys seem to specialise in arm grabbing more than hard round the legs tackling.I played at Wagga with the great Turvey Park RLFC and the Mortimer boys came from there…Chris Mortimer if some of you guys can remember him would cut a bloke in half with legitimate tackles...I wish he was available to us as a defensive coach.Im only putting in my opinion, and Iam not looking for an argument,we need someone to help the young guys.I also think it comes back to affordabillity, money at our club seems to be very, very tight.. :brick: 😛ray: 😛ray:

Unfortunately there is no reward in around the leg tackles

You have to release basically straight away and the opposition gets a quick play the ball

You have to be able to tie the ball up , you have to be able to keep him upright for as long as possible and then be able to win the wrestle when you get him on the floor

I don't know if Chris Mortimer can help us with this

If we are looking for a defensive coach Kelly Egan could be the go

I've heard he has upset a few at the Bulldogs but he came across with Hasler from Manly

He was involved with the youth program at the Cowboys as well before going to Manly

Bloke had a good fend as well , can speak from experience
