I was just wondering, what is the process for recruitment at a club? I don't mean the nitty gritty of the salary cap and that type of thing. I mean more along the lines of the club needs a 5/8 then what. Obviously they would need to identify who's available, but what happens after this? Does Cleary say who he likes the look of and decides how much he is willing to spend on that player? And if this does happen, who does he discuss this with? Does he waltz into Pascoe's office and say "I need a $million boss, going to get me a player!" Are there others that have a say? Is there a big meeting with all the big wigs to discuss a strategy? Are players opinions sought when recruiting? Maybe every club is different. Interested to know if anyone knows how this all rolls.

Most definitely varies from club to club. As said above Cleary has full control of the football department at the Wests Tigers but that doesn't mean he is making decisions on his own, I'm sure he discusses this with the other coaching staff and even Pascoe. The final decision would be up to him. I'm sure there are clubs where players opinions are sought, I definitely would think that a player like Cam Smith would be consulted when Bellamy is looking for Cronks replacement.

Simple answer is it works how the club has set up for these decisions to be made.

Generally a scout will identify a list of players that would suit the teams style first.

The coach will evaluate the options available and get a general idea of the salary cap and how many players are left to fill the squad.

The coaching staff will come together and discuss the best options available.

That list gets past onto management and recruitment team.

Management and Recruitment look into the salary cap and try to come to terms on a deal that is in the interest of both parties.

Then it gets agreed upon.

Obivously each club is different but in general this is the system followed

Cleary full control of football department but I'd say he'd be in daily talks with Kelly Egan and our recruitment manager David Warwick about types of players they'd want at the club.

Well that's interesting, so there really is no difinitive answer to any of that, as each club has its own processes.

So correct me if I'm wrong, Cleary is currently rolling with JT coaching Staff?
And if so, can Cleary change this at any time or are these individuals contracted for a specific time frame also?

The way our club was handled before Ivan came in to take control was ring up a job agency and see if anyone wanted weekend work standing behind goal posts for around 50 minutes out of 80

Yes Bazzinator, this is what I was after.
So correct me if I'm wrong, Cleary is currently rolling with JT coaching Staff?

Cleary still has the majority of JT's coaching staff, Stringer recently quit. Starting part way into the season I would think that it would be a consistency thing to keep some of the same staff in place, Cleary will either work well with the coaching staff here currently or over time he will make changes to get a coaching team he is happy working with.

I look forward to our roster stuffed with:
- Experienced forwards with size and a bit of mongrel.
- No-one too young or too old.
- No grubs, except the right kind of grub (see first point above).
- Absolutely no potential.
- Players who haven't been good since at least 2014.

Also we will re-sign Farah every other week and sack him again on the alternate week. Every player will be dropped after every loss (three bad performances running will prompt a roster clear out with English clubs required to sign one Tigers player apiece on full contract value). Wages will be based on a vague idea of market value derived from the media, what someone's mate who's tight with Chris Lawrence's uncle reckons, and the 2006 salary cap.
