I'm spewin we missed TPJ and Mitchell too.

How do change this?
Where is the main issue that's holding us back from landing a big name?
Is Sheens going to help change perception like gus to the dogs?

Playing finals football 3 times in 21 years.

Yeah I know this...but TPJ knew this and still negotiated with us...seemed close to
signing too...Is there another factor atm stopping us landing a big name?

Honestly, I think that is the biggest problem.

I can't help no doubt.

Maybe we do what we did when Sheens turned up and invest in our youth. Then
target best up and comers.... Like Newcastle and Ponga.

We can't seem to get an out of this and move forward.

That is what we are doing

Not fussed...

Especially if we miss out on TPJ...
Then end up with Hudson Young AND Joe Tapine.

Who, IMO... are a better fit for our club.

We need 2 centres also.

Is it possible that the dogs haven't announced him yet because they can't get him under their cap
Are they waiting to move someone on 1st
Anyway if reports are true then we should move on and forget about TPJ
I don't know why we hang on so long for an answer
Either a player accepts our offer or he doesn't
It should not be used as a bargain chip
I just bought a unit with an offer on the table for 24 hours
I didn't give them time to have an open home so others could make an offer
It was a take it or leave it approach
It's worked for me twice now as I learnt the 1st time not to get played and used as leverage
Our initial offer to Pangai was probably the best offer at the time, but giving him all this time to field better offers works against you
Put your best offer in the 1st time and give minimal time to accept
If it's not good enough then move on the the next

We should not have gone back for a second bite

I would go after Vaughan now in the fashion I spoke about above
Ask his manager what would secure his signature today/Tomorrow
If we agree get the deal done
If not then walk away and let him take his chances elsewhere

Nrl contracts are like an auction now
Usually goes to the highest bidder but also comes back to the terms

Maybe the club should have gone to $750'000 per year on a 3 year deal
But the 2nd and 3rd year in the clubs option
If he performs we take it up
If not the see ya later
Bit like Bj

issue with Vaughan is how he plays out his 8 game suspension as this was issued by the nrl before he was sacked by dragons.
Dogs are asking nrl is his suspension continuing now or does it only recommence once he is contracted which could mean he is suspended for start of 2022

Media already trying to spin the suspension in dogs favour hopefully nrl stand firm

Latrell Mitchell realistically was always going to a top 4 club. We offered money he took success. Age old issue.

Pangai chose option B over us. I don't see it as being the alarming issue some do. I'd rather someone like Stefano any day of the week.

Kent has mention lattrell south money ended up same as us too

Like someone said in another thread. Just shut up until the deal is done. Yeah, its frustrating for us supporters not knowing what's going on amd who we are looking at, but nothings more frustrating and disappointing than continually hearing we missed out again. Just tell us when the deal is done and sack anyone leaking the info if u find them.

Hmmm, that's not how it came across at the time, I thought we were well above the pack? Though he should know more than most?

Maybe it is that until consistent finals football

Awesome news. The club is handling their stuff like champions. I can smell a rope-a-dope comeback coming on. Can anyone remember those Tooheys ads ?

We will have to do this from within. No marquee signing, no new CEO, a new coach or a director or anyone is gonna help us.

Whoever is there now within the club right now needs to perform in their roles better. Starting from the receptionist to the highest paid player. Take pride in your work and see if results change.

Given the fact that we are missing out on any player we target who as any kind of alternative offer means one of a number of possibilities:

1. Our valuations are not realistic. It's all very noble saying we won't pay overs but any player is worth what a given club is willing to pay him.

2. The people negotiating the contracts are doing a terrible job of selling the club. This can't be ignored when a club like the Bulldogs who have won a handful of games in the past three years are seen as a more attractive destination than us.

3. Players don't want to play for the coach. Again this is something which needs to be considered but Trent Barrett is hardly the next Craig Bellamy so I'm not sure why he would be a more attractive coach to work under than Madge.

Regardless of any of the above this is something the club can't ignore and the Tigers management can't shrug their shoulders and say oh well, on to the next one. This is a critical issue now which is seriously affecting our future prospects of success and if it's not being looked at closely by the club then the cycle of failure in these types of negotiations is likely to continue.

go replace Adam Hartigan then if you know better

You'll need to point me to the part where I said I know better.

I'm asking questions which I believe the club should be asking too.

Don't worry, there are people on here that think the club can do **know wrong**. You'd think we were minor premiers the way people go on here. Your questions were relevant and should be asked.

this is funny - "no wrong" lol

I suppose if you're going to use that tactic, you've got to be prepared to walk after 24 hours as well.

I'd also imagine that tactic attracts sellers that are desperate for a buyer.

I don't think TPJ was desperate and I don't think we were willing to walk given there arent that many players around in the market of TPJ's stature.

I doubt this tactic would work if attempting to buy a highly sought after property.

Pascoe Clear message was he doesn’t give a stuff what people think nor should he

He’s always acted in the clubs best interest

I disagree with that. You go back for a second crack for two reasons. The first is you might just get them at a price you are willing to pay. The second reason is the opposition then has to pay overs for them and it hurts them financially to do so.

who said I was debating with you? geez my intelligence is not that good as most of you guys here... I just love reading the posts that everyone does put in (sometimes it can be so frustrating coz it is so negative but that is part and parcel of the forum), I know I will not win - a bit silly of me to debate with you mate, I've seen your posts and love reading most of it but I did notice you don't concede that you've lost the argument most times - end of story
