Reddy @ fullback.. why?

I don't post here that often anymore but one thing I keep reading is people suggesting that Reddy should play fullback. I don't understand why. 😕

The bloke is as big as a backrower (bigger than Fulton and probably Heighington), doesn't have the speed to play at the back and hasn't even trialled at fullback (Tedesco and Humble only have filled that role). I think he will be used exclusively off the bench…

So whats the go.... ? 😕

Reddy was originally a fullback as a junior and when he first came into 1st grade, he trained and was used there exclusively the first 2 years at Parra (about 8 or so games apparently).

Its been a while since he has been at the back, but the skills would still be there. More so then other players people are calling to go to fullback like Lote/Grant.

he's no brett stuart thats for sure, but he leaps into the air for bombs like an afl player. he defuses bombs easily. maybe he could provide cover for utai.

Our brief glimpse of Tedesco showed how good it is to have a no1 with speed and footwork. To put Reddy back to no1 would have us with the slowest back three in the history of the game. I really hope Humble works out at one as he offers plenty as for Reddy he will make a great no14 can cover most positions on the field and will be a great back stop for injuries and rep games

Agree 100% - I don't understand why people want him to play fullback and why Tim Sheens would consider him there either. He doesn't have the traits to be a successful fullback - he isn't quick, he hasn't played fullback since he was very young, he is a big bulky guy, he doesn't have ball playing skills and wouldn't be a type of fullback who would have a good support play. He is a defensive centre through and through. He has been playing in that position his whole NRL career and I considered him to be the second best defensive centre a few years back after Cooper.

Yeh agree ahx….he is good under the high ball......but like why Lote will never play fullback...theres a lot of miles to cover in the #1 jersey...he's our utility now

Nope.

IMO Still looks like a centre/back rower. Slow and doubt he has the motor for 80mins at the back.

Hope he kills it though if selected at 1.
