Reece Hoffman

Why would we let him go….we planning another signing……….??.

Or opening a spot for another junior to be promoted to Top 30. Problem with Hoffman was he was signed as a booming QLD centre to a development deal with guaranteed Top 30 spot. I personally don't think he's kicked on and I don't think the coach rates him enough. I think there is better emerging talent below Hoffman. I also think he's grown too big for a centre but too small for a power forward.

Good luck to him met him a few times and seemed to be a nice young man, however unsure how the dogs can get him into their top 30 are they not full?

Good luck to Reece. Not a bad move by the club in my opinion. Hasn’t shone in cup and now apparently transitioning to backrow which is another 2-3 of development.

Hope I’m wrong, but not expecting to see him I. First grade any time soon.

Asiata left because he refused to take the vaccine and I don’t think they officially added Lumelume to their Top 30.

Hoffman must be going in ahead of him, unless they’re releasing someone else.

Store this one for a future lament thread. Another embarrassment whether he kicks on or not.

We are not repeating the mistakes of the past. We are recruiting the best youngsters that will be the backbone of a successful club for years to come.

Looks like the talent identification is a massive fail. Have any of our development players kicked on?

McIntyre was a development player wasn’t he? He’s the closest, but we let him go too 😩

Not sure on that one I’ll be honest that one did hurt don’t know if he wanted to leave or if we didn’t come knocking but either way can’t dwell on it seems to be enjoying his time at the Titans to resign with them for another 2 years

Wonder I'd simpkin heading the same way.

At this stage I say no we would be dumb to let him go considering he and Liddle are our only Hookers for 22 and we aren’t getting Korisau till 23 we would be dumb to let either go at this stage I know Peachy and even Hastings can play at Hooker if needed but I don’t think that’ll happen Peachy has been training at Lock and sometimes in the Halves probably in case Brooks or Hastings aren’t available until Doueihi comes back and if Liddle does get injured again without Simpkin we’re basically screwed at Hooker but I will say one of my mates actually saw Simpkin at the beach the other day he didn’t interact with him too long since his GF was there but he told me he’s fit as he’s been training his arse off based of what he told me he basically told my mate he wants that 9 jersey don’t know if he’ll get it come Round 1 he might be on the bench maybe but maybe just maybe he might snag that 9 jersey later in the season but I don’t think we will let him go besides we just resigned him for another 2 years Hoffman was off contract after this year anyway so makes sense as to why we would be willing to release him early but anyway I’m going off topic lol I think Simpkin is staying for now at least

I think letting Reece go is another move that provides the opportunity to further improve our squad. Plenty in front of him for a centre spot so if we can replace his position in the top 30 with a player who is pushing for a starting position, then it improves us.
It will be interesting to see if we already have a plan for that spot in the 30 and who comes in to fill it.

I'm confused as to what you're trying to say.

If he kicks on, he belongs in the lament thread.

If he doesn't, then that's poor talent identification by the club?

Even though I think he played QLD and Aus U18s?

Clubs sign and release players all the time. If talent identification was an issue, we wouldn't have the lament thread anyway.

Yea Agreed.
We had two choices as I see it and we made the right one:
Offer the spare reserve fullback/winger.
Sign Starford Toa.

Reece may show form elsewhere, but we made the right decision. For some reason everyone keeps badgering us to sign another Center.... We have A bunch of Fringe Graders and some we need to dump vying for Center.

I don't see Reece starting. part on good terms and let him come back if he proves himself.
Naturally if he becomes a gun elsewhere, tap Madge and ask why TT and others were given the opportunity ahead of him.

Gus had a big twitter spool about turning him into a back rower,
That's where his speed and body shape belong...
I just don't think he's tough or dynamic enough
