Refs Ruining The Game

On a side note - Ray Warren please retire you're doing my head in.

That would be fantastic, he is old biased fool who barely knows any player out of the top 13 of each team.

You would have noticed the former players said it was an accident and no penalty.

I was listening to the ABC call and they didnt disagree much with the refs except when they checked our tries.

They said the Sue Penalty was legit and it made sense that tigers fans would have been blowing up too if the shoe was on the other foot. I know i would have been calling for blood.

Keeping on topic, we should never rely on the refs for a result.
We have been robbed SO MANY times, we should just win games on our ability and put the result beyond doubt,
Thats the only way to win IMO.

It's not just the incorrect decisions ruining games but we are turning into Rugby Union the way everything is penalised, that combined with every try going to the video ref just makes the games so much less entertaining to watch.

We'll being seeing penalties for players breathing soon…..

WD. ..you really have your goggles on.
Both clear no try. ..your in a thread that's critical of reds and rules but you want the wrong decision under the current rules.
Doesn't make sense.

It happens every game…Every week...more noticeable when it's us though

When a decoy gets tackled by a defender that doesn't constitute obstruction. If he's just in the way different story. As for cherrington, there wasn't conclusive proof, so how can that be overturned? I'm not being critical of refs. I'm being critical of video refs and their over analysing in an effort to perfect an imperfect game.

High profile players, teams and coaches get favourable treatment for sure from refs.A perfect example occured in the Storm vs Warriors match.Cam Smith gets tackled with a Warriors player wrapped around his head, fair penalty,Storm score from the next set.Exactly the same tackle occurs on Warriors player,no penalty.

I just hate the way the fans ability to celebrate his team scoring the moment the try lines crossed has been taken away.

We all wait…All eyes.turn to the ref...He does his little move then a eyes to the screen...we wait again...replay replay replay yawn yawn zzzzz.

The.moment has long gone. If they get it right....theirs no joy.. just relief the didn't cock it up as they usually do

I am still stunned about the Lovett shepherd…...Elgey clearly hits him in an attempt to milk a penalty.

In the spirit of the game that is a try every day of the week.

PS....we are crap and didnt deserve to win.

There were 2 other trys awarded after review during the weekend where the decoy ran the exact same line as Lovett - hitting the outside shoulder of the defender. It seems to me that it really depends on which team is being reviewed - its obvious the more fancied clubs get more of the close calls than the unfancied clubs.

I thought the video refs were ok tonight….they weren't the problem. It was pretty obvious that Cherrington didn't get the ball to ground....also Lovett faded right at the line i thought.

On-field refs were atrocious as usual....Got sucked in by the Titans milking penalties and missed a clear strip. I don't have much time for either ref tonight.

Only things worse than the refs was our general performance and the TV commentary. Channel 9 should have a fresh look at their whole commentary approach....very blokey and boorish. Lacks any thoughtfulness and analysis (the best commentators are US baseball....so knowledgeable). As much as he can be annoying Gus Gould is the best expert commentator we have. Johns could be good but is a muppett (ditto Finch). With training Fittler could be outstanding.

I'm fine with the nine commentators, with the exception of Ray Warren.
He's past his use by date and should go. His angry old man act is boring.
I agree that Gus is the Best expert on TV

I couldnt agree with this any more strongly.

BANG ON!!!

The single greatest part of the game has been killed…...the unreal joy as u celebrate scoring has been replaced by a "is he gonna give it?" and then the five minutes of replays......when u finally get the try and there is a bronx like cheer....for the "about time it was given."

Get rid of the video ref.....mistakes are part of our game.

I reckon it wont be too long before they ban block plays and im ok with that.

It will clean up a grey area…....and hopefully stop coaches from using the same boring plays and play a bit of footy!

Yes - and the irony is that the longer they look at it confirms that have no idea what decision to make based on the inconclusive video - so more often than not it still ends up being a 50/50 decision anyway!

Look yes the rules are partially to blame and the refs but its the coaches and players that push every rule into grey areas which makes it very hard for the game and refs to police

The CEO's of all 16 clubs need to sit down and agree as one that certain areas won't be breached and massive penalties will occur if they are

The refs have lost control of the game. They're too busy trying to coach or be friends with the players & have lost all respect. They don't seem to have any confidence in making a call & are more concerned about not getting something wrong than just calling what they see. Refs have & will always make mistakes, thats just human error. I can handle that.

I just wish the refs would back themselves & take control. No more putting up with players/captains BS, go back to referring to players by number not name, use the 5 min sinbin if needed to stamp some authority, etc.

Not sure who is to blame for this but I'd definitely support a meeting between CEOs, coaches & refs to get things back on track again.

Happys just being a smart arse TT . He's dumped me for JT and he's regretting it  . watching the World Cup with one ref was great !
Sure one ref will still make errors but half the errors IMO .
