A league Immortal Reg Gasnier has passed away a day before his 75th birthday

I have never seen Gasnier play , but I value my Dads opinion

He said Gasnier is the best centre he's seen

My condolences to Gasnier family and friends

RIP Reg Gasnier

Reg Gasnier was a member of the great St George teams that won 12 premierships in a row in the 1950s and 60s, including 1961, 1962 and the infamous and legendary 1963 grand finals against the Western Suburbs Magpies. Gasnier had blinding acceleration and a balanced running style that made him a magnificent sight when running at full pace. He was used as a strictly attacking force, not expected to make many tackles and seldom receiving the ball unless he was being put into a gap. In my opinion, he was an ornament to the game and a true 'immortal', in the sense that he will always be remembered.

I also met him at party one night he had retired from football we sat talking about football he was so great to talk to not up himself like some of the guys playing now .RIP puff and thanks for the memories

Watched him play many times….what a gifted player and leader he was. I never met him but was told more than once that he was a thorough gentleman and wise to boot. RIP Mr. Gasnier

I saw him play a number of times. He was regarded as the best player of his day not just the best centre. He was all class and a pleasure to watch !
