Over one hundred members were presented with reports from Chairman David Trodden, Wests Tigers CEO Stephen Humphreys, players Tim Moltzen and Lote Tuqiri and several other senior members of the organisation. Stephen Humphreys:
· Noted how great the past year has been
· Spoke of the remarkable turnaround within the team after the Souths loss
· **<big>A conscious decision was made not to buy any marque players this year, instead focussing on reinforcing the stability within the playing roster</big>**
· He regards the NYC side’s chances this year as very good
· Spoke highly of Aaron Woods, saying that he will play First Grade this year
· Ben Murdoch Masila is regarded as a future representative player
· The club is in great health, in a good financial position and Mr Humphreys expects this to continue
· Jersey sponsorship value was the highest in Sydney
· A “prominent” back-of-jersey sponsor will be announced during the week. Mr Humphreys said that it has taken time to find the right sponsor for the right price.
· Merchandise at Concord and Gear Zone accounted for $1.5mil in revenue for the club. This does not include any sales from retailers.
· He is confident that the Wests Tigers will be in the mix for the premiership at the year’s end
· Stated that both the club and Tim Sheens want to continue their relationship and it’s only a matter of time before an extension is finalised.
Lote Tuqiri
· Loves being at Wests Tigers and loves playing at Leichhardt Oval
· Spoke of the competition for spots in the starting side and how this should benefit the team as a whole.
Tim Moltzen
· His knee is feeling great
· He is looking forward to getting back to playing
· When asked what his preferred position was, he said he “was warming to halfback” before the injury.
· He is still excited about playing with Lote Tuqiri
Wests Tigers & Balmain Financials (Mark Crowe)
· It was noted that the Wests Tigers are still moving towards financial independence from the clubs with around a $400,000 grant issued last year.
· Wests Tigers recorded approximately $10mil in revenue last year, an increase of $1.5mil on the previous year.
· A $3.5mil grant from the NRL was received
· Total Wests Tigers income was $13.48mil
· Primary expenses were $8mil for Football Operations and $1.4mil for Management.
Rozelle Redevelopment (Benny Elias)
· The new development plan includes a larger, 4000sqm club. It will be “State of the art” and a “bull terrier”
· The acceptance as a Section 3A development would be a “boon”.
· The current timeframe is:
o Receive a DGR from the Department of Planning, taking 3 to 4 months
o 1 month exhibition and submission period
o Plans handed back to the government
Balmain Tigers Rugby League
· Sean Meaney was announced as club captain
· Luke Brooks is recovering well from his broken foot and should be back playing by the middle of the year
David Trodden and the Board of Directors should be commended for holding yet another immensely successful AGM. Stephen Humphreys should also be commended for taking the time to report to members of the club.
