Reputation over performance for the Churchill

JT wasn't the best on the park, that honour goes to Anthony Milford. I think it would have been really awkward giving the award to him amongst all the chaos.

As far as second best, Matt Scott.

JT was third best for me. He did have Linnett over the line earlier in the game, but the pill was spilled.

In terms of theater and being in the moment, you had to give it to JT.

Easiest money I have ever made in my life
Anyone who thought that Thurston WOULDNT win the CC medal after all the media hype has rocks in their heads.
Wish it was as easy to back the Melbourne cup, winner

Umm yeah
Although most people are complaining that it was not right and unfair. Which I agree with - he was a long way off the best player.
My point being it didn't matter so long as nq won then JT was CCmedalist.

Oh and Thurston did some magic stuff it's just that his team mates couldn't hold onto the pill. He would of had a few more try assists if they could. Should Thurston be disregarded because his teammates weren't as on song?

He actually missed the pass, slightly high and behind him.
It was a 50/50 error that one.

I think Thurston lifts any team he's in just by being there, irrespective of how he actually plays. Letting him leave the Dogs some years ago is the only major stuffup I can think of from Steve Folkes their then coach

I thought Reed was the best player on the field. Set up a try, scored a try and made countless critical tackles. With the closeness of the scores there would have been no complaints that a player from the losing team picked up the medal.

In saying that, if Linnett holds that pass, JT is the winner.

Reed had a blinder.

So did Oates or 79 minutes and 56 sec, god knows why he came in, just had to hold his winger and they win.

Not CCM worthy, but the Brisbane bench, in particular Dodds and Wallace were outstanding, thought they may have been their weak point, certainly wasn't.

Granville did his best to undo all his first-half good work, with a couple of tragic passes late in the game. Luckily for him his team-mates have good hands.

Suffice to say, a player like Reed would be just what Wests needs….

Reed did play a good game, especially after being absolutely owned by Ferguson in the prelim final. The Cows would have set out to target him to see if there were any mental frailties lingering from the week before…he stood up well

Milford was heads and shoulders above everyone imo. If ever there was the game where the CCM had to go to a player on a losing team then that was it imo.

that's all i remember of him coz i only saw the 2nd half. i was so surprised when everyone suggested he should've been MoM. saw the full game now and he did play amazing 1st half.

milford though definitely MoM.

thurston played like thurston. did all the right things most of the time. kicking well, setting up forwards, cover defense. he was everywhere. in one set, they shifted the ball from one end to the other 3 times and thurston was at 2nd receiver all 3 plays. he was very good too.

Luke Phillips in 2000 for the Roosters wouldn't have been a bad choice either even though they lost.
