Reynolds at Lock

Whats more the time he did spend on the field he brought a heap of energy and we looked a better team.

If fit he might just be worth that money.

I agree a fit Reynolds brings a lot.. however Reynolds from his own mouth on NRL 360 did say if he thought he wasn't up to the rigours of NRL week in week out in the future he would consider Super League..

I hope Grub comes good and does play on with us,however ,at least you have to admire his honesty regarding his future…

Yep i heard him say that. it might be the only option for him if we sign young Nathan.

Its one of those things though, we need to give him the chance to get on the field.

As we found out with Farah you cant just force someone out of the club because you dont like what they are getting paid.

Yes we might not need Reynolds on about 700k but how do we fix that. Realistically, like how do we actually remove him from the salary cap?

Ideally he goes to another club or ESL but if we have to pay him we should play him if and as required. If he isn't the best option in the first grade team he shouldn't be picked.

I reckon it’s like this:
If we get Cleary for 2019 then Brooks and Cleary are halves. Marshall retires, Reynolds is 14.
If we don’t get Cleary next year Brooks and Reynolds are halves and Benji is 14

That sounds too logical Steve.

Not necessarily what the club thought.

The idea of playing the lightest lock in probably the lightest back row in the NRL already ….

Pass

Play him off the bench , worst comes to worst , use his enthusiasm when we need it

I'm just hoping we can get at least get one full season of Reynolds' talent and enthusiasm at 5/8 next year, then sign Cleary for 2020.

I don't want to have to turf the guy, before he even has a chance to get over his bad luck with injuries and shine for us, because we sign Cleary prematurely. It wouldn't be fair on him, imo and I would really like to see what he can do for us in a full season because the signs in his very short stints on the field this season were good.

Jesus Christ look at some of the locks in the comp Burgess,Taumalolo, Tapau, De Belin and you want to stick Reynolds there, you must be havin a laugh.

2 minute super sub at the end. It's Sheenius…

Look I don't agree with Reynolds at Lock, my idea would be to move Marsters to lock and Reynolds to center. A 5/8 to Center is not a big change and with the Running game Reynolds has he would fit in there.

That being said, lets look at him at lock:
Pro:
tough defense, good running game, can pass.
Con:
Not big enough to stand the wriggers of being a forward. Isn't even in the front row.

If we were South Sydney, Cronulla or had a similar massive forward pack I could see Reynolds be a lock in that environment. Perhaps only in the last 40 of the game, but I could see it. We don't. Reynolds would really have to bulk up and that ain't happening.

Perhaps after 2 seasons, he could transfer to lock, like how John Sutton did the move or how Chris Lawrence made the move with us. But I am not seeing any of this happening or being a good idea. Were not paying him 750K to be a crappy forward.
As a center he could excel. I think his strengths would play well to the position (defense, grit, good running game) and it would match his weaknesses (less passing). Lock, forget it. While he could play there for 20 minutes if we were Dominant, were no where near dominant

Next year fit Reynolds is first choice 5/8.
2020 if/when Cleary signs and Brooks resigns …. in the melting pot.
Big if/when!
