We have been on the wrong end of player manager manipulation, and funnily enough. From batemans manager.

2x transfer windows 1 in june for a month the other October to January 31st . That’s it . If you want out there’s a 1 month window for that stuff to go down .
Also trades should be a thing . Seriously there has to be compensation for this type of rubbish

Long overdue. Nobody gave a crap when we were held to ransom. It was just put down as poor management, which some of it certainly was. The game has lost it's way over the years where player managers are running the show. Hopefully the NRL will finally do something now they have an "independent" boss running things.

He's fixed everything else so far so I won't be surprised if he fixes this up.

Ex manager ..his ass is grass

Good to see the media finally acknowledging some of the farcical manipulation that goes on. Hopefully the people’s champion Mr. V’landys comes out with a big stick and reins these managers in.

It has to get back to the old days where a contract was a contract. The NRL have to come down on players and their agents who black mail clubs into a early release. Maybe if a club that takes on a player like Bateman or Matterson are hit with a salary cap penalty.

Anyway I have said many times the biggest problem the game faces is the player agents because they control the movement of players and coaches

Ricky Stuart - legend. Finally someone in a position of power speaks out about these grubs. Isaac Moses should be publicly shamed. Others like Sam Ayoub and Gavin Orr need the same treatment given to them.

Absolutely. Ricky isn't too well liked around here. I've never understood that. He's one bloke that says his mind and stands up for his players and has the best interests of the game at heart. He's one passionate dude.

All the NRL need to do is tell the clubs and the players if they sign a 5 year or 3 year contract thats it its for 3 or 5 years if either party want to break the contract there are penalties of 50% of the remaining term

of the contract amount the penalty comes of the clubs salary cap and if player responsible out of his pocket it would do away with these long term contracts that normal do not end well.

Transfer fees would fix the issue and stop this nonesense in its tracks. There is no cost in doing this now, that's why it has become so prevelent and the agents and players are getting away with it.

I don't think it would stop the Rooters or Souffs

Yep . You’re just not going stop the dodgy managers being dodgy . All you can do is have a system where teams are generously compensated for being screwed. European soccer has way more dodgier managers , and underhanded rubbish going on . There’s like intermediate managers that ring around and illegally broker deals on behalf of clubs/managers it’s crazy. And thier system has the transfer fees. Mind you though , it has to be policed , otherwise you’ll find the roosters paying 600k for a 30th man .

Clubs have been just as guilty of not fulfilling contracts with players - maybe not monetary wise - but certainly actively move them on if they become surplus to needs and or no longer what is wanted. If the clubs all agree to ensure all contracts.are fulfilled under the terms that they were signed then player managers would not have any leverage.
