Risk V Reward

Season 2012 comes down to a simple equation "risk v reward". I have watched every tigers game this year (and a few others also), simply put, we take too many wrong options. Example, Round 24 V Bulldogs, 3 minutes before half time ahead by 6 - penalty in front of the stick to take an 8 point lead to the break, yet we for some inexplicable reason look the gift horse in the mouth. There have been countless times this season where the Tigers have taking the wrong option at points in the game where I believe they should know better. this is not the fault of Sheens but our senior players who despite their large salaries appear unable to read the tempo of a game. they say you can't legislate for common sense and I suspect nor can you coach for it. I put a lot of these decision to over confidence and not necessarily "panic options". I posted earlier in the year that I thought the acquisition of Anasta would teach our boys how to win games from the first half and not in the last 10 minutes.
Of course, I'm bitterly disappointed that we have flunked out of the season to a team we demolished by 50, but the boys only have themselves to blame. I am confident that 2012 will be viewed by the entire club as a season of missed opportunity and expect to see far more grit in the team next year.
Unfortunately, I am a terrible loser and my interest in footy went out the window at about 25 past two this afternoon, so I'll gear up for the NFL season and watch the Miami Dolphins (who are remarkably Tiger-like) lose their first 5 games of the season and make a bold yet fruitless charge to the playoffs.
have a safe summer Tigers fans and look forward to some pearls of wisdom in 2013.
