Tedesco voted as players champion and 3 Tigers in the team of the year? How on earth? Were half of the NRL players not included in this event?

7 Players were nominated by the RLPA for Players Champion ..voted by their peers..

All NRL players available for selection in the Dream Team…

Ok, but it still begs the question - how on earth? There were heaps better players than some of the guys chosen in that team - think top 8 teams for a start.

That's your opinion, the players that are on the field think otherwise.

Congratulations Teddy, Nofo and Woodsie

Must have been a postal vote and the letters only sent to the Weststigers!

Woods went well but probably not in the top 5 front rowers
Teddy was well below his best for 75% of the season
Nofo..was good but had plenty in front of him in the wing stakes

Obviously **the players that play against them** have a much more realistic opinion.

no surprises there :sign:

topic exists..

The voting system is flawed. The players pick the 3 best performers on the opposing team, so when teams come up against a weak side with a few stars like the tigers, the same players are always going to be chosen (e.g. teddy, woods, nofo etc). Whereas a team that has talent across their side are going to be competing against one another for points. No wonder smith didn't win when he's playing alongside slater, cronk, Munster, chambers, kaufusi, Bromwich, vunivalu etc.

There is only 4 out of 13 players in that 'team of the year' from clubs that actually made the top 8\. I'm sorry but that's just wrong. One or two from the bottom teams maybe, but nine?? No, your team makes the finals if you're playing so good as to be named in the team of the year, imo.

I'd rather the peer voting system than a bunch of drunk jurno's and ex boys club players that is the Dally M's .now that's a farce..

Asked how he rated his 2017 season the NSW No.1 said: "It probably wasn't my greatest to be honest.

"It was hard in a struggling side at the Tigers but the last two months, for myself and as a team, we were better.

"I think there's a lot of improvement for myself, I'll be looking to do that at the Roosters next year. Hopefully I take my game to the next level."

Hmm James, you started off right - not your best year, but don't just blame the "struggling" team, you created your own off-field issues that both brought your form and the team's form down.

Tedesco signs with Tigers straight up in February and maybe we don't get half the nonsense we got in 2017 that destabilised the club.

The biggest farce is the Clive Churchill medallist. Thurston wasn't the best on ground in 2015, and choosing DCE in 2013 even though his team lost?

Makes complete sense -

If you have just flogged a team, and were then asked to vote on who was the best in that team - Tedesco, and Nofo would come up every time - they almost always put in and are dangerous irrespective of the game.

Think of it as the "anti-flog" award.

"
"It's a great compliment for me, the year for the Tigers wasn't so good. This puts a good slant on it."

During the regular season Tedesco topped the league for tackle busts (153) and was seventh for run metres (163m per game).

Yep, narrowly missed the wooden spoon but I feel so much better that Teddy is recognized with the Players Award *FACEPALM*

I've got no problems with the CCM winner coming from a losing team, just as long as it's right. DCE wasn't the best on ground in 2013\. Milford should have got the CCM in 2015 though. It was just easy for the selectors to say it was for JT, as it was just about the last accolade for him to get in the game. It's all a joke.

Apart from 2013 (can't remember and don't really care) what has being on the losing side got to do with whether you are the best player on the ground or not?

Exactly - its a ridiculous system.

But Tedesco is a flog so that doesnt work.

Dunno about it being flawed… Don't know why people cant see though this is why our 3 blokes were picked

I say it's flawed because in the team of the year, 9 out of 13 of the players were in teams that missed the 8\. Also the fact that Teddy beat Smith to the major award. Neither of those points make sense to me.
