RLW Players Poll results

Reading the results from this poll….a few things stick out for mine...

The 69 of 100(69%) players polled who believe Todd Carney should NOT have been sacked for his infamous bubbler act and the 78 of 100(78%) players who believe Carney should be allowed back in the NRL indicates to me the NRL has NOT got its message across to the players what standard of public behaviour and responsibility is expected of them!.

If this poll is representative of the players then the NRL should be very worried as the messages and education schemes they have been pushing for the last 3-5 years are not working. Those players polled clearly don't see what Carney has done is not acceptable; is a real blight and damage to the game, sponsors and future revenue. IMO The players should be condemning Carney's behaviour or not commending it as they have in this poll!...

Theyre footy players…I dont know why anyones surprised.

Go down to a local park on a Thurs nite training, these are wild tough young blokes who play a tough game, theyre not academics or intellectuals

Most of them still act and dont think of consequences beforehand...unfortunatley it takes a 10 year plus career before a lot of it sinks in.

Look at players retiring after long stints and look at players just starting out - chalk & cheese

Most of the players playing today should be grateful that they can play football. I do not think a lot of them would be able to hold down a normal job otherwise.

The RLW player poll edition is a waste of time, any article that runs a Poll and interviews less than 25% of the people involved is garbage and not a true indicator. There's 400 contracted players amongst the 16 clubs plus others who fall outside the Top 25 so let's say roughly 450 players and an anonymous poll is based on less than 25% of that number I can't see how it can be taken seriously.

Not surprising when for most of them from 14 years of age or so, football is all they do & know…even at school

Any figure over ten percent for a diverse survey of a group of this size is generally held as a reasonable figure, thus a poll of nearly a quarter of persons is hugely representative.
