Has anyone actually read the article?
Im assuming theres more than just the ratings list, would be interesting to see HOW they came to this conclusion

I have, and it is based on a number of things, how players performed last year, who is improving, what were the teams strengths and weaknesses last year, who they lost compared with who they bought, each team has a double page spread.
There is also a piece on a player who you don't know but will by seasons end, in our case it is Seve, the player the team can not afford to lose to injury and a few other things, like the most testing part of the season for each team.
It is a fair indication of what has transpired, we put our selves in the position to not have money to spend, and we recruited with limited funds because of it, so an F is probably close to the money.
Does that mean we will come last, maybe not, players might step up, there maybe diamonds in the rough from our new buys, champion teams win games, not a team of champions.

On the "Watson Heleta and Marion Seve' thread there is a suggestion that Seve has gone. If so we probably would have been given an F- !

Ballins worth every cent as far as Im concerned. He'll keep Farah from feeling as though he's the only option. It's the fire cracker up his bum that he needs to perform. That alone is worth plenty as Farah at his best is formidable. However, who knows whats around the corner with him and his scheming manager? Ballin keeps everything in check.

The F rating is just typical of the general media attitude towards the WT's. So predictable it's not funny. Our recruitment has been first class given the cash limitations. I'd love to see these blokes absolutely rip in. And I reckon Tim Grant will absolutely go hard this season with some no frills blokes digging in along side him.

Agree with the second part; somewhat disagree with the first. I don't think having a 32yo who's played 1 representative game 6 years ago hanging around is an enticement to play well. We've got Cherrington and Halatou as suitable replacements through injury if required. If I'm Robbie, I'm worried about being shown up by a younger stallion rather than someone 1 year my senior. If Ballin was purchased as an insurance policy to make Robbie play well, then we really deserve an F.

Halatau has never put pressure on Farahs position. Balin can., and so can Cherrington. I really don't think at this point he really believes that Cherrington is his competition such is his arrogance. It's not the amount of origin that enhances Balins resume but rather his record at Manly. The great thing is, we're covered in the hooking position this year either way.

Never said Halatau was a threat; I said a suitable replacement through injury. I definitely believe, like I said, he'd be more threatened by Cherrington than Ballin. Esp. if you think arrogance is the lynchpin. But 100% agree, I'd rather have competition for position rather then lacking depth in years past.

Most of the good sides in the NRL are made up of three standout players, three or four young athletes on the way up and the rest harden pros who do the job week in and week out with the odd bad game.

We have Teddy Woods and Farah as our standouts and we have Siro,Brooks Mosses and Cherrington as the young kids on the way up, we have fallen down for years in the harden pro department, but things could be on the improve this year

Even our stand outs don't do it week to week and year to year. Teddy obviously held back by injury at this stage.

Considering we finished at the bottom last year without a huge injury toll, and very few of our recruits are a walk up starter, how can you grade us any higher at this stage.

That is the item that worries me most last year was the best year injury wise and jt could only just avoid the spoon by +/-. Just about all of our recruits are fringe players and only one (Grant) would be a starter at most clubs

Why do we keep talking about Ballin as if he's playing first grade ? He's a post-op cripple who Manly offloaded to us for free since it makes very little difference where he plays his NSW cup mid year. If Ballin was any chance of playing first grade before about July, Manly wouldn't have dumped him off for nothing.

They'd already announced they were going to dump him prior to the ACL injury. Manly wouldn't be paying his entire salary and for them even an extra 50-100K could have been the difference between landing a player and not. Considering how active they were in recruitment they would have wanted every free cent they could muster in their cap.

He'll be seen in first grade this season at some stage.

I like Ballin, and wish him well, but we didn't need him, regardless of how cheap he came, we need centres and secondrowers.

I think that Ballin will see a fair bit of first grade and not necessarily as just a hooker. I think with the new interchange rules, coaches will be looking for bench hookers that can cover another position. A centre or backrower would have been preferable, but not sure who we could have picked up for that sort of coin.

The F rating is what it is Fluff , we will push all the way this year , I'm happy with who we have got and they aren't costing us bucket loads
F is for Finals they just don't want to say it
