NSW coach Ricky Stuart admits he'll have to take risks at the selection table if the Blues are to end Queensland's State of Origin dominance.

Critics of recent NSW teams claim the Blues have been too defensive in the approach to beating Queensland, with plans to contain the Maroons' juggernaut backfiring to the tune of six straight series losses.**
Whether this NSW team includes Jennings or Parramatta fullback Jarryd Hayne - who has also struggled to find any consistent form in 2012 - is one of the most hotly-debated selection topics ahead of Sunday's naming of the side for the May 23 opener.
That only intensified with Jennings' dumping to the NSW Cup this weekend, with Panthers coach Ivan Cleary less than impressed with his star centre's recent performances.
"It's a huge concern and a messy situation, the Jennings-Penrith situation," Stuart admitted.
"They've had to make a decision on what they think's best for the club and I don't buy into that. I don't know the background of it all.
"I just know that they've made a decision and I've got to run with that."
While he hadn't spoken to anyone at the Panthers since Jennings' demotion, Stuart said: "I've been talking to Gus (Panthers general manager Phil Gould) a bit over the last week. I knew there was dramas."
But pressed on whether Jennings remained in the selection picture, Stuart said: "You put a coach's hat on - if you think a player can perform and he hasn't been performing at club level and you think he can help you win, what would you do?"
What to do with Hayne - who is in consideration for a berth at fullback, wing or centre - and Jennings are just two of a handful of questions Stuart is still wrestling with.
But he refused to divulge just how many spots remained up for grabs with the side to be named on Sunday.
The make-up of the front-row and whether to include a traditional half/hooker utility on the bench is also unclear, Stuart reticent to pencil in too many names for fear of having more players pull out.
Already he has had to scratch Newcastle duo Kurt Gidley and Danny Buderus from his plans, while the injury scare involving Paul Gallen on Monday night highlighted the volatile nature of representative selections.
"I name the team now and I promise you one or two won't play," Stuart said on Wednesday while attending a benefit lunch in Sydney to help raise funds for ill rugby league icon Ron Massey.
"I don't get too excited about it until Sunday night when I can name them knowing that everyone is fit and healthy.
"It's just how it is with representative football - you name your team today and that 17 won't be the same 17 on the Sunday night that you're naming - it's just the nature of the beast."

how good would it be if Farah was picked and played the best game of his career and carries the team to a series win. It would be the best way to silence and end all the negativity. I have been boycotting the NSW side because of ennis lol

Zorba said he expects the team with farah in it, later explaining that the jury is still out on whether farah should be in or not.
regardless, if farah is talented enough, has a good attitude then he should be picked, same goes with ennis. all this not made or made for origin excuse is rubbish. pick one of em, then stick with em.
qld made the choice back in 05 when prince and thurston were both in stellar halfback form. qld said we want thurston and stuck with him.

people who are high in the RL fraternity, when they form an opinion, they go to great lengths to prove themselves right. these stubborn old men care about nothing but their own rep.

Then we have the hooker situation. Farah had virtually been scratched from any chances at playing Origin again, but his form has far excelled that of Ennis. Plus there's some serious other under-performers like Hayne and Soward, however guys like Stewart, Carney and the Morris twins have stepped up, but some of them haven't played origin.
Add to that two of these young guns who are really stepping up - Tariq Sims and Aaron Woods - both only in their second year of top grade but having a huge impact in one of the toughest positions for rookies. Does NSW take a chance on their inexperience and harness their form and enthusiasm or lay their hopes on the so-called "Origin-type players" that are older but had no success in past years?
Guess we'll know come Sunday night!
