ROBBIE Farah's $3.5 million contract extension with Wests Tigers was finally finalised Thursday night after months of delays.
Announced on March 21, Farah's four-year extension was yet to be lodged with the NRL - but the Tigers skipper has put any concerns to bed, tweeting a picture of the signed contract.

The delay was yet another symptom of unease at the joint venture.

The Daily Telegraph revealed on Saturday that Farah was still owed sponsorship money when he agreed to play out his career at Concord earlier this season.

He ignored inquiries from Souths, Newcastle and Parramatta in the expectation that the outstanding amounts would be made.

Farah's manager Sam Ayoub refused to comment on the reasons for the delay when contacted last week, but confirmed the contract had remained unsigned on his desk for "some time".

According to Tigers CEO Grant Mayer, negotiations had revolved around what component of the deal would be classed as marquee payments and therefore quarantined from the base salary cap.

But according to others at the Tigers, the real reason was because the announcement was rushed in desperation to secure the club's most valuable player for life.

Meanwhile, coach Mick Potter has been given assurances by Wests Tigers management he will be back in charge for 2014, stressing club officials aren't ''liars''.

Potter's future has been clouded for nearly a fortnight although it now appears he will at least see out the final year of his contract.

The Daily Telegraph revealed on Tuesday that Potter's job was now safe.

It appeared the ten-man club board became spooked after fans and members became irate at Potter's possible sacking.

Potter said he wasn't ''naive'' but expected to be retained.

''If a person tells me face-to-face that I'm in that position next year, I'd take him on face value,'' Potter told ONE's The Game Plan.

''I don't believe they are liars. I think when someone looks you in the eye and tells you something, you believe them.

''I believe what people tell you is the right thing, be it naive. I don't think it is.''

Asked would he be at Wests Tigers next season, Potter said: ''Yes, I will.''

Pressed on whether he deserved to stay in charge, Potter said: ''I think so, under the circumstances. I think I deserve a continued crack at it, there's some good young talent there.

''Ultimately you're judged on winning games, and we want to win games. Everyone is impatient and we want to do it right now and unfortunately that's not the case right at the moment.

''But we've got three guys in our NRL team every week that could play under-20s and I don't think there's any other team that does that in the competition.

''We'll be better for next year and even the year after. There's some bright signs but were all impatient and we want to win.''

Potter has had to overcome a horror injury toll this season.

Great news.

Why do i feel like everything is going to plan?

We dodged a bullet with Benji and most my other issues are leaving in 4 weeks.

GL team and Potter.

Anybody think that Robbie was waiting for Benji's decision to see if he could get a slice of his departing salary?

Not necessary Robbie, but I wouldn't put it past his manager?!

Just goes to show Mayer is the real deal and Humphreys is a complete dud.And all this under Wests Mike Baileys watch compared to Balmains Nick (Me and Moses Obeid are the closest of friends)de girolamos year on the chair that went from one two faced backstabbing decision to another. And Im an old Balmain fan.Im a long time reader on this forum and I used to laugh when all the balmain faction(moderators and system administrators) would jump to the defence at humphreys(and issue deleted accounts because of) while he made one bumbling decision after another. These people know exactly who they are.Yet again I am a former Balmain fan now Wests tiger but blind freddie could tell the major problems lied with the Balmain side(only since humphreys started).Lets just move forward and get rid of this stupid board structure we currently have.

Given that the Balmain side of the JV is flat broke I would have no issues if Wests had full membership on the board as long as they WT logo and name does not change and as long as they dont abandon the traditional home grounds.

I told you all there was nothing to worry about.

Gee some of you are absolute doomsayers who think every little thing will go wrong, just so you can justify your inane calls to have so and so sacked.

Talk about stupid.

Well said. We all know who these dopes are, not a brain between the lot of them.

Some advise for them: get off twitter, do not believe everything you hear on the radio or read ( if you can ) in the newspapers. Get the FACTS before running off at the mouth.

Wow I hated reading that DT article above. All the "The DT can reveal" or "The DT revealed" as if they have exclusive information and don't just throw 100 darts. Never have and never will buy that birdcage liner.
