Roles on field

Too many utility players is the issue

If you wanted cohesion , you would replace a second rower who plays right in the NRL side with a second rower who is up to standard and can play right side when brought in

We bring a guy in who is usually a centre who plays left side or a front rower who has not excelled at playing second row

Or a winger who can't deal with the extra workload and then replace him with another winger when he runs out of steam

Please stay on the topic, it's something we havent really touched on and it has generated some excellent discussion. Let's keep the crap out of the thread and keep the interesting discussions going.

What control does Sheens have over BRET and their tactics? Do they play a similar style of footy?

This has been going on for years though, I remember the shock and surprise when Sheens actually replaced an injured Lui with Miller last year, but that didn't last long. It's no wonder it takes us ages to find our rhythm, it was seen at the beginning of the year, the players didn't appear to know what they were doing, it gave the impression that none of them had ever played together before.

i would start with placing benji back into 5/8, make sirro play some games at halfback in the reggies and see how he goes. benji is the best 5/8 in the club and one of the best in the world, i really don't wanna move him to halfback, he just seems to loose all his attacking game.

if ur best player doesn't know what his role is, i doubt anyone else does either.

I think a lot of it comes from not having a halfback, someone that can actually steer a team around the park. Sheens of all people should know the importance of a quality half. Look at the times he has had success and won the GF. Canberra Raiders - Ricky Stuart, WestsTigers 2005 -Scott Prince. These are the only times when he has coached a team with a quality half and look at the results! Benji is not a half, he doesn't have the maturity or consistency in his game to dominate yet.
Look how good Robbie goes for City and NSW when he has a halfback to link with. It frees him up to concentrate on his own game and not have to worry about playing half as well as hooker.

he will never be a halfback… his asset is being second receiver creating an overlap through taking the line on, then setting up outside backs in the corner.

imo, benji is not smart enough to realise when to slow the game down and when to speed it up. hopefully, braith is.
