Rothfield names Benji as choker

be interested to see how Rothfield would go on the field.
its easy to criticise and be a keyboard warrior.

He would pee himself as soon as someone ran at him.

Orford is the biggest choker, he had a bad game monday because we put pressure on him. When he's pressured he makes mistakes and bad plays. You can't use Manly's premiership as an example of him not choking. Every finals game Manly was in the team and himself were never under any pressure. He's still a good player but would struggle big time in a bad team.

Yes, making claims like that on people should be left to those who have also played the game at the highest level.

It doesn't even make sense. When have most of these guys 'choked'?

That's exactly what I was thinking  Inconsistent maybe, choker.. hardly.

If you have a look at the reasons rothfield gave it was because of his inconsistancies.
i think the title of his blog was misleading. Anyone he mentioned isn't actually a choker.
He basically just pin pointed 10 players that make errors in teams that aren't exactly guaranteed a spot in the finals.

The NRL is set for a grandstand finish with 12 clubs vying for eight semi-final positions over the next five weeks.
>
The survival and success at all clubs will depend largely on players who can best handle pressure week in, week out.
>
Here’s the 10 players who I believe are the biggest risks when the going gets tough, the stars most likely to crack under pressure, by throwing a wild pass, dropping a bomb or missing a tackle at a crucial stage:
>
1) Chris Sandow (Souths) Missed more tackles than any other player this year
>
2) David Williams (Manly) Had shockers in origin and Monday night against Tigers
>
3) Peter Wallace (Broncos) Doubts over his ability under big match pressure
>
4) Benji Marshall (Tigers) Brilliant one –day, mistake riddled the next
>
5) Jarrod Sammut (Panthers) Has made 29 errors from 18 games – fullback’s are supposed to be safe
>
6) Chris Walker (Titans) 12 errors in 13 games – and has a history of brainsnaps in big games
>
7) Trent Waterhouse (Panthers) Conceded 18 penalties in 16 games – the most of any NRL player
>
8) Ben Rogers (Knights) Played terribly at Saints in big games last year
>
9) Justin Hodges (Broncos) A champion centre but his temperament is a major worry
>
10) Brett Finch (Storm) Lost two grand finals at the Roosters. Can make mistakes under pressure.

I have to admit if anyone knows chokers it's going to be this idiot, he does follow Cronulla.

He's off the mark with Benji though, Gallen would have been a better candidate than Benji, but his crappy team has no hope of playing finals so Phil had to try & put crap on others.

as soon as i read sandow at number 1 n the reason being - missed more tackles than anyone else, i lost all credibility for the whole article.
after 10 rounds there was an article on soward in the telegraph on how he has missed more tackles after 10 rounds than anyone for the past many seasons.
missed takcles got nothing to do with choking.
a perfect choker is the wolfgoose williams. another is finch.
benji should be no where next to that list.
like someone said in their post, inconsistency n choking are 2 different things.

definately inconsistent, but hard to say choker when you consider he is 2 from 2 in big games.

Is he really that inconsistent though? This year he has probably had 8-10 brililaint games, 6 good games and 3 not so good games…much like everyone else playing the game. Seems as though, the media largely, say Marshall had a quite game if he doesn't set up an unbelievable try or pull out the big step.

Anyway Rothfield is a complete and utter moron. He obviously doesn't know what a choker is. Marshall stands up in big games, where as guys like Billy Slater and Matt Bowen always falter in them. You don't judge a choker by how many errors or miss tackles they make throughout a year.

Bloody oath.

Ever notice how the "expert" journo's are the guys who look like they couldn't tackle a 6 year old?

Biggest wanker journo's though are without doubt cricket writers. The thought of someone like Robert Craddock telling Mark Waugh how to bat both amuses and astounds me.

Don't think anyone pays attention to a blog like this. It doesn't even make sense. When have most of these guys 'choked'? Perhaps biggest liabilities, but not chokers.

yeah it seems plenty take his bait ….he would be sitting back in his office having a giggle....good press or bad press...it all sells papers ....

hes an idiot, i hadnt seen the list but tell me exactly how is hodges a choker? he is the best centre in the game, rothfield is an idiot.

A choker is someone who cracks under pressure or loses when winning is inevidible (like norman at the masters) that is choking, not kicking out on the full or throwing a bad pass, or giving away a penalty, rothfield is a tool
