Probably the worst season opener in many years.Attack was none existant on both sides.It should have been a 2-2 draw neither side looked like scoring atry except from a kick

Reflections from game one
1...Channel nine is still diabolical when it comes to any sport
2...if. The dogs had a no9 and 6 they would be a quality side Plus a speedy 3//4
3...Parra still a long way off the good teams, but early days
4.. the refs were better than normal

Matterson made 39 co-tackles (often 3rd man in) and missed 5.

Ran for 98 metres - That's 49m per half, That's 5 runs per half. That's way less than when with us.

Yep didn’t have to do as much compared to when with us.

Lewis cost them with some stupid plays. First throwing a forward pass inside Parra’s half, early in the count when they had momentum. And he should have fielded that kick that lead to try, despite Brown’s pressure. They have zero creativity in the halves. Which is a shame cos the forwards will hold their own against a lot of sides.

The 1st 10mins was the best start to a season have seen for a while.

After that everyone got gassed.

Lewis was everywhere for the Dogs - really enjoy watching him play. The Dogs just have no punch to create opportunities outside of DW at the back.

Eels was just playing warnup they never kicked into 2nd gear outside of the first 10mins. They looked ordinary the second their forwards ran out of puff.

I mentioned this earlier. While I get why people hate him, he’s never bothered me....till tonight. Idk why but he was grating on me. Throw in Anasta and Blocker, and it was the trifecta.

Which leads me to my next rant. That super cool and hip ad where all the players dance around like douchebags. Cringe with a capital C. And Noble needs to drop the l and e from his name and call himself Nob. Cos that’s what he is.

At some point this year the Eels are going to have to ask Reed Mahoney to do more.

Good little player but offers very little creativity compared to some other top line hookers at the big clubs.

Theyd look a lot better with one bringing their forwards on to the ball.
