PVL is one of the greatest blights the game has had foisted on it in as long as I can remember. Next, we’ll have his obsession with international round. AFL lives rent free in his head. I don’t think he realises how cheap it makes the game look when he has to continually go on about how much more superior it is compared to its main rival. AFL don’t take cheap shots at the NRL cos they don’t need to.

I like PVL. He's done a lot of stupid things I disagree with, but he has also provided a lot of good ideas and rallied hard to turn them into reality. Last year was one of the best years of footy I can remember. He comes at the game from the perspective of what a fan would like to see. A lot of his ideas pass the pub test. You take the good with the bad, and at the moment he is delivering enough good to outweigh the bad.

But he is also a corrupt, slimy, mob-style boss who probably has dodgy backroom deals going on in the background.

Yeah, still a lot of empty seats especially noticeable during the Bulldogs v Dragons game. For such a grand occasion they should be filling the stadium.

The upper tier when they showed the camera behind the defensive lines for the kick offs looked pretty sparse. If they were honest and said the intent was for a bit of a glitzy way to kick off the season, then fine. But they want us to believe that they are actually making a dent in the market over there which is a total crock. They can talk about how packed the streets were all they want, but they were packed full of Aussies and Pommies who flew over specifically for it.

100%…the Americans are not and never will be interested in NRL…TV are not interested in it, betting aren’t interested, Americans in Vegas would rather be eating at the buffets in the casinos than go to Allegiant, as someone pointed out this is all an ego journey for PVL and Abdo…

I don’t know what game you watched but you have seriously gotten a lot of things arse backwards there.
Bulldogs were the more unimpressive team out there and Dragons will win their share this year.
Neither were great, but it’s round 1

I watched the Bulldogs vs the Dragons from Las Vegas without any sound (no bullshit commentators or hype). What I saw was fairly average footy from both teams. What I think is the Bulldogs will finish well above the Dragons for exactly the reasons I gave.

Rugby League fans are a miserable lot.
Never happy, always have to dig the knife in. The closest they come to content is when sooking about the refs.
PVL is out there promoting the bejesus out of the game. He isn’t on tv every week running the game into the ground like the journos do or publicly criticising every aspect of it like the ex players do. He is boldly telling the world THIS is the best sport played on the planet.
NFL, NBA, MLB and any type of Soccer…..spare me / wake me up when it’s over. They are garbage sports.
Yes the American market is a pipe dream, but for one week every year RL takes over the entertainment capital and has a crack.
It is a professionally run excercise that presents a slick image on the box.
Those scenes in the crowd when the Poms were playing were excellent. NZ home games are similar. Party atmosphere, beers flowing and cheering on young blokes belting each other. Now compare that to Australian crowds. Tribalistic dickheads sulking about everything. They just want to go down to the local on a Saturday arvo and support their team. They couldn’t give 2 shits about the actual code and it’s successs.
Luckily we have blokes like PVL and Abdo in charge. They are having a go.
