Does anyone have any insight to what teams do between last trial game and season starts.

What are your thoughts on Garner?
Does he come off the bench red 1?

Had a poor year last year and didn't do much in the trials. CC for Garner round 1 at least for mine.

A lot comes down to whether Mbye is ready to go or not. If he is out, Laurie to 1 and either Talau or Madden at 6, with Jake Simpkin on the bench.


Agree, I don’t think Garner has done enough to earn a spot round one?

I wonder what game some people watch sometimes.

You reckon Garner has earnt a spot for round 1?
He was absolute pus last year and did little in the trials, can hardly see how that has him locked in for a gig next week.

With Brooks attacking on both sides of the field this year Garner becomes a lot more dangerous as they link up pretty nicely. At least til Blore heals up Garner should be solid.

Let’s hope so, but they are only words atm.

I am still miffed that he is a goal kicker and we have possibly missed the finals a few years because no one stepped up.

I wonder if we will lack that superstar/origin quality player that most teams have.

I know it's a team game and how we perform as a team is more important than individual but sometimes you need that person who is a class above.

The positive thing about not having SOO players is we have our full squad available (excluding injuries) during the origin period.

I was gonna say that backline is young , but it’s not really . BJ is 30 , Nofa and the jet are 28 and Brooks is 26. If they went with Mika instead of Tuki then the bench had no debutants either . It really only leaves madden as the sole guy making his debut . I like that team .

I seem to be in the minority but I'm expecting big things from TM this year. Injury free and a full off season can only be a big thing and I'm definitely not prepared to write him off just yet. Plus I don't want to see Packer anywhere near the 17.

That's my team as well
The bench is a little inexperienced but they are big enough and good enough to trouble other packs if they play like in the trials
Suspension and injury to Musgrove and Blore could be a blessing in disguise
The young forwards will get a taste of real football early which will show madge what they need to work on for the latter part of the year when we get some tired and injured boys
I see the likes of Simpkins and Stefano filling in for injuries and Suspension this year
But who knows, given the opportunity they might just surprise a few people
They have an opportunity first up if selected and they know if they play real well the spot my be theirs
Competition in our forwards is great
That is one part of our team that I am confident in

Love your optimism re Garner but IMO he's way down the pecking order. Give a young hungry bloke his spot and put a rocket under him. Very disappointing last year.

I think his game could improve if he found that 10kg BJ lost?

I appreciate he had some injury issues last year but I did go a little luke warm on Thomas M last year. However, I note both Joffo and JTJ specifically singled him out in recent interviews so maybe this suggests he's ready for a big year.

I hope so, an extra strong, quality forward never goes astray,

Yes it’s back! And we haven’t lost a 1st round match since 2014.

I think Talau is a good chance of getting the 6 jersey, only due to experience though, think Madden might get eaten alive if he’s chosen by Canberra first up but we’ll see
