LIVE GAME Round 10 v Storm

Live Game Discussion
Realistically virtually every team that played against Storm in that frame of mind was going to get smashed today. The best teams would have lost by 30 and the lesser teams by a lot more. We played today like the worst teams in the comp so we got hammered.
On our best day we don’t beat the Storm unless they are off their game. Unlucky timing to have to play them at home after their loss last week and with Bellamy on the rampage. We were simply not prepared for nor are we capable of matching their speed, size, aggression and skills.

The point is how is this team ever going to have a real identity when these dropkicks are still calling them balmain 25 years after that club disappeared. But go ahead have a good laugh.

I remember a time when we were once a bit of a bogey side for the Storm. Always gave them a run for their money, even when they were at their peak. The last few years though it’s been a guaranteed shellacking!

💯 and not the Mothers Day gift from the tigers I was hoping for.

i think this is a cop out. I'm not sure Storm did anything special, we were just very poor. To many points to go through them all but:
The first try should have been stopped half a dozen times before it was ultimately scored.
Anderson made a couple errors that gave us a chance to get back into the game. Additionally they did not look to be defending well. Tigers should have made the most of those opportunities but failed to execute the final pass a couple times.
The drop out the forwards watched in hope that Bula would retrieve the ball rather than close the space in case he didn't. It was one of several times we didnt get pulled apart in the middle rather just left massive gaps for them to attack.
Turuva was outpointed every time the ball went in the air but Coates was getting a free run. Staines, Galvin and Fainu made no effort to check his run.
There were countless simple effort errors that gave them the big early lead, not remarkable attack by the Storm. From there the team just gave up.

I can only describe that performance as inept.

Inept from the paying group on the park and inept from the coaching staff in the preparation.

Not sure how they weren't prepared for that performance from Melbourne; however, we made them look good. Not contesting balls in the air, lack of effort, lack of heart and lack of common sense.

Our good mate Galvin is playing his value down every week - on today's performance he is not worth more that base salary. Although he is not alone in that department.

I think it was Ennis that mentioned that prior to the game we were very relaxed; whereas, Melbourne were focussed and intent on what Bellamy had to say. I think that sums up the preparation and execution.

I trust that the players and Benji can learn from getting our arses handed to us in such an emphatic manner.

We’re still at a level where anything other than our first choice lineup is going to struggle. Desperately need To’a and Skelton back. Galvin looks to be becoming more of a toxic figure with each week that passes, even aside from his performances which are also on a rapid decline. Getting Latu in with a few games under his belt would be a huge boost.
