LIVE GAME Round 11 v Rabbitohs

Live Game Discussion
Proud of the guys tonight. Don't know bout you. Wasn't expecting a win. Was wishing for it
Look, I am proud for Api, May and a bunch of the guys.

I should rubbish on Seyfarth and Galvin who both had errors, but I won't. These things happen.

I do rubbish on that we kept hitting Souths line and could not cross. That's down to the coach, Api got 2 lucky tries and we have enough talent to crack souths.

If they don't jag one of their famous upset wins against a complacent top team, the next good chance for a win looks like round 20 with the Titans at Leichardt. From there, winnable games look like the Cows at Leichardt round 25. Gold Coast Cbus round 27. And they have three byes ...

WT can't attract a quality FG coach because the board is too fractured, and the club is never pulling in one direction. They made a huge pitch for Ciraldo but he never seemed interested, and now look at the Dogs.

Richo has the hardest job of his life on his hands.

Unfortunately seems like the first 5-6 games were an aberration. We are back to the team who's won 3 spoons in a row

If you flick through our draw, we will find it very tough to win more than 2-3 more games for the rest of the year if we don't somehow improve
I'm not waiting Are you stopping your life for their improvement? Really? Are you.

Richo has to keep building the squad. By next season Seyfarth, Douihei, Twal, Galvin have to be replaced. KPP and Taylan May would be a start. We have Latu Fainu, Fonua Pole, Skelton to come back in. Our depth NSW Cup teams needs another 5 solid players (backups). South’s had 4 gun players out.

Did anyone else wonder why the bunker to review Bud’s high shot on Samuela when Samuela knocked on at the play the ball in 1st half?

Play stopped, the TV replay showed a high shot & Samuela’s nose was cut. But no, play on!
Happened against the Tigers.

Seyfarth, Doueihi and Twal are squad members. They play their role and fill out the squad at modest cost which will allow WTs to buy players such as KPP. We don't have the quality in attack yet but Richardson and Marshall are working on it. I question why Galvin was not on the interchange instead of Naden, with Mason starting at 6.

Did you watch the first game?
It was a disaster!!

It's interesting how different people take season 2025 so far.

Right now we are 5W 6L. Rabbits just went to 6W 5L after tonight, so the match was a 50/50 and the result showed that. We haven't yet won or lost more than 2 games in a row. Manly are currently 6th (5W 5L) and that's only because they've had a bye and we have not. Storm are 4th but they've only had 1 more win than us (6W 4L). Dragons and Roosters have less wins than us (4W 6L) but have banked their bye points.

We appear fairly consistently middle-pack after almost half the season. Apart from the Storm touch-up we've been mostly competitive every week, but also the Broncos and Eels games got away from us.

1 more win and we equal the # wins from 2024. We are already ahead of the # wins for 2022 and 2023 (4W).

So from the consideration of a team coming off triple wooden spoons, there is visible change in the ability, fight and mentality of the team. They are still a bit fragile but it's worlds ahead of what we've seen in recent years. Tigers weren't great tonight but it was also a much more competent outing than the absolutely flogging handed out by the Storm. Galvin holds the ball with 3 minutes to go and we win, and we commend the strong end-game fitness and fightback.

We are unaffected by Origin 1 (at least), we have a bye and then Cowboys and Penrith which are both winnable.

If Tigers stay competitive every week we will probably end up around 50% wins, because this is what happens when you are an average but reasonably competitive side. We could hope to win 10-12 matches.

Now for me, compared to 2022-2024 it's a real improvement. I understand the strong disappointment and the ease with which fans feel dread and pessimism. But that sentiment is attached to some hope or expectation that the worst team in the comp will turn it around in 1 season and play finals footy 2025.

Of course the season is on the line at the mid-way point. Of course we need to get better, pull ourselves back up, get back the W. I would not have expected a Tigers 2025 side to be 8W 3L after 11 matches. But we are thereabouts, it's not hopeless.

So I find it both understandable but also a bit weird that now, right at this moment, some fans are up in arms, throwing out their membership and borderline giving up. Calling the season as "going down the toilet". I actually think we are quite competitive, just not clinical enough.

Actually, I am somewhat surprised how competitive we are given we are still quite clunky, i.e. there is a lot of upside if this team actually finds their straps. That last 15 against Souths was all Tigers in the running, I am not used to seeing the team make 80m on several consecutive sets, and it's just a real shame they left that run so late and Galvin could not ice the win, as we managed against Sharks.
Fair enough, maybe im overreacting in the moment but im noticing us go backwards in defence since the beginning of the year and not progressing in attack. Results have been better yes, but for all the backslapping about our defence we have conceded more points than this time last year and the year before (although in one extra game game)

Last few years we actually have been competetive for the first half of the year, with the wheels coming off totally in the 2nd half. I remember making the exact same point last year and people were pushing back "look at the improvement, positives etc."

Some people aren't happy even after a win. Can't please all.
